Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well, I got a box in the mail from Kandahar. And boy am I weepy. How marvelously touching. Thanks for organizing the whole thing. It's turned out to be really special for a lot more people than just the 82nd.

Well, it is not irrational for it to have an impact and a memory, but walking to my mailbox should not give me panic attacks either....
When I was a kid, I rode my horse all over and all the way through town! - being careful of course, but not being afraid! It was a quieter town then, but still, there are some places and trails Bay and I could ride to quite nearby but I am too afraid to go out there now.

but I just need to realize emotionally that the cars are not going to hit me walking. They are not really out to get me. well... not all of them at least.

Same thing as a fall or a crash. You have to get through that trauma before you can do things normally again. You either face it or remain traumatized. You want that I start sending you a daily postcard?

Why was it ordained that there be a two byte limit, and why is the thread only 2 bytes? Um. Just guessing, it's simply the limit of the forum software. Probably nobody ever conceived that a thread might need to be more than 55,000 posts. Also it is a fairly "natural" computer division called the word boundary.
