Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Here's the number one definition for cake in the dictionary: "a breadlike food made from a dough or batter that is usually fried or baked in small flat shapes and is often unleavened."
THAT could be crisp on the corners, couldn't it?
To: RosieCotton
Yeah...I suppose it could....

FYI...
The Lembas thing is debated about once every six months. Hold on to your hats, it's been known to get rather heated!
;-)

Hair should be here momentarily to post that it's like thin cornbread...

Yep...the cornbread theory will be along soon.
To: Overtaxed
I personally think that's a good idea! I have always thought we should have a Lembas cook-off at the Entmoot, but don't know how we'd manage it!
To: Overtaxed; 2Jedismom
My siblings and I discuss this, too. We practically got into an all out shouting match over lembas a few days after Christmas. Dad already thinks we're a bit too obsessed...I think that disturbed him a bit. ;-)
To: 2Jedismom
Speaking of edibles, maybe the cookies will be there waiting when I get home! I'll let you know!
Tonight is music night! Or one of 'em, anyway.
To: 2Jedismom
Not as heated as the dwarfs vs. the elves I hope!

I remember reading in Letters that JRRT was getting a bit annoyed about the obsession with the "magical" qualities of lembas. All the man wanted was a simple way to keep the heroes provisioned. And here I am: all I want to know is how you bake a crisp cake!

No no...we all ultimately agree on one thing...whatever they are, they are downright tasty!

Yes... a deep dark velvet. With diamonds studding the hem and neck...We could use this material:

And these diamond brooches:

And clasp it at the neck with this:

I have a pattern that looks like this. 2J get the fabric. Ruthy, get those accessories. I'll sew.

Yes...a blue so deep it's almost black...
Sounds perfect! Where did you find the cloak? Does it have a pattern?
To: Wneighbor
Wait! It sounds perfect, but I'd still like to see how PJ's costume department has done it up...their costumes have been right at or better than anything I could imagine.
We have a year! Maybe we'll see it in the previews!
