The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!
Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well then it wouldn't be a cake. You wouldn't want to go against the word of Tolkien, would you? Hope I'm not repeating everyone. I just got back from errands.... but
Remember, Tolkein was Brit. Over there a cookie is a biscuit. So, maybe a cake is a cookie. LOL

Yes... a deep dark velvet. With diamonds studding the hem and neck...

Heavens no! None of us could show that kind of restraint (except for ksen)!
We will be seeing all of them, for the very first time all together! It will be so great!
To: Wneighbor
I can speak for you on that can't I Ruthy? Most certainly you may!
Now, who's up for chicken wings and fries?
To: 2Jedismom
I told her I was too busy praising God for taking my hearing to ask Him to give it back! BWAAAHAAAAHAHAHAHA
It's a mom thing. I'm gonna laugh about this one for a while. I may get crazy like you did yesterday.

I would LOVE a 4Runner...and the Highlander is gorgeous. Bit out of my league, though! I think the Rav4s are darling, but I've heard they don't have much power, and somehow I doubt they have much more legroom than my current vehicle.
I'll probably stick with my current car for a long, long time and just tell the siblings to quit their yapping, but it doesn't stop me from drooling over others!

perhaps...Dickens never really specifies how old Carton is...just that he had a rather dissolute life...he'd probably be at the perfect age because most young men in the 18th century had led quite a life by the time they were 25. I think he'd be fabulous.I've always imagined him as a bit older...more like mid thirties.
I need to re-read that book! So many books, so little time!

Did you see those boots in the photo? I think the guy is a biker. And he needs a good biker old lady. I wish I had riding boots like that.

Haldir had me in fits, and I kept wondering if Lorien was just a half-step out of reality from Montrose Blvd in Houston. BWAAA HAAAAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh, this is a dangerous day! I'm going to have to pass this one on to the Haldir-lover in the house. (After she finishes fixing my lunch and bringing it in here to me.)

Does she hate us yet?She doesn't hate us exactly. She hates my teasing. But she gives as good as she gets. She's quite a feisty little thing. I think the only reason she hasn't chimed into the hole is because I've been so down in the dumps for months about leaving all my friends when we moved that she's just happy I've found someone to visit with.
She was really into journalism in school until this year - she's a senior now. She wrote quite a bit of FR-worthy editorial stuff for school newspapers. She gets very vocal on 2nd amendment, abortion and Christian rights. She would hold her own in any FR thread if she got in here.
Therefore, I figure she can take whatever we dish out. She has experience already.

Well, Myranda brought my bowl of pasta. So, I passed on the Haldir on Montrose funny.
She says, "That's ridiculous! Elves can't be that way."
Can anybody confirm that in any of the official middle earth data?
I don't think so....

of course another mom/daughter mini-feud over whether or not Legolas is a biker. It's so fun living in our house.

As far as I have been able to determine, a cake is a cake over there. I don't know about cake. I don't eat cake much. But when a Brit asked me if I wanted a biscuit, I wanted a biscuit. I got a cookie. not right.... just not right.
