Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

BTW I love tequila if you feel like havin' one of them for me. Gosh, I'm sorry... I haven't been able to drink tequila ever since this certain weekend in 1982. I really like tequila, too... but there's this reflex gag thing that makes me spew now. It's really unfortunate. :-) Margaritas seem to be OK, so I'll have one of those for you.
To: Wneighbor
Now I feel for ice cream :(
To: Ramius
There's something nasty happening in Federal Way but that should be clear by the time I get thereYeah, you need to be there a while longer to drown my hurt feelings.

to drown my hurt feelings. Whahappun? What'd I do?
To: Wneighbor
The extra shot will have to be Jack. that OK?
To: Ramius
It's really unfortunate. :-)It is, and I have seen it happen. -Which is also unfortunate, though it was undoubtedly funnier from my perspective than yours.
To: Ramius
You didn't do it.
To: Wneighbor
I tell you what!
I should have put foam mattresses on these bunk beds...I nearly get a hernia every time I change the sheets and have to lift up these heavy mattress! Yowzer!

Hair; it's actually next weekend, The Vth Annual Ozark Selfbow Jamboree in Marshall MO. I sent G'nad an email invite, looks like he's coming up there.
Wood bowyers from all over the US drive, fly, walk, bum rides to it. Trading sessions, contests-3 D targets and clout shooting, "craft" demonstrations, and flint knapping, mostly catching up with what's been happening.,
It's a Moot of sorts, seeing how we're all talking about trees. :-)
We keep in touch over the internet, same as here (just been informed, not the same as here, they stay focused on topic to the point of flame wars ;-)
In fact "MoJAM" started as a result of flame wars, which wood is better, which design is better, and the first one was bow testing under "scientific" conditions-even cronographing arrow speed, ExCel Spread sheets, some even plotted force draw curves.
Once we determined we weren't going to change anyones mind about anything, we set to visiting and trading ideas, materials, tools, since then it evolved into a gathering of the clans so to speak and we also made it a family oriented event, kids events family camping, sunrise service, pot luck (really pot luck) road kill grill type smorgasbord.
We also have a auction benefit for someone in need, this time it "Benifit for Kids" a make a wish type group that does outdoor activities with terminally ill youngsters, fishing, hunting, camping, horseback riding and camping trips - those are some hard working folks, we're glad to help them out with our auction.
Been pretty successful had several hundred attendees the last couple of years.
To: Ramius
I like Jack. We used to have a really really intimate relationship! :-)

You know, that sounds like an outstanding organization. One that I wouldn't mind knowing more about.

I try never to drink alone. But as long as my friends Johnny Walker or Jack Daniels will come over... I figure I'm OK.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
I'm so sorry Scott. I left you out and sure didn't mean to. Would you like to hit the tequila for me?

Make sure to take pics of that too! Or he will maybe!
I have learned that people can have flame wars about *anything*. Learned that on the whistle board 2J was hangin' out at.... people were dang opinionated about pennywhistles!
To: Ramius
I noticed the other night that you were spending time with one of my former "pets" too. I liked to keep my wild turkeys in the fridge so they'd always be ready to come out and play.
