The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

a full can of bee up the chicken's butt
Goodness don't tell 2J.
Actually you can find that recipe online but under 'Beer Butt Chicken'. And it is fabulous!! Never had chicken come out quite so good before.
You have to drain half the beer out, and put some spices inside. And it works best on a grill, but I've done it in my oven too. Just have to place a large pan under it -- something that could catch all the beer if it should turn over. And, it kinda makes a splatter mess in the oven.

(Oh, he's just like any other man, only more so.)
Thanks everyone.
My boss is NOT going down without a fight. They have asked him to travel up to the corporate office next week to have a meeting and he told me that he will not believe the office is closing until "the fat lady sings".
He made me promise to have a positive attitude until that moment arrives.
He's the best boss. His job isn't even threatened, only mine. But he loves the set-up and has already prepared the numbers to show how business has improved since I've arrived. I keep things running while he travels and he travels about 50+% of the time. :)

Okay everyone, My son-in-law sent his thank you to us by snail mail. It arrived while I was away funeraling and it's been here 3 weeks so you know this is old. But, anyway, I typed up the parts pertaining to the Hobbit Hole. So, here it is:
Hello from Baghdad! I hope this letter finds everyone happy and in good health. Im doing find over here although the temperature should top 120 degrees by the end of the month! (end of June)
I really cant thank you enough for the packages that you and your friends at the Hobbit Hole sent. They have been the most popular packages for the guys so far. They are by far the most useful packages we have ever received. I just opened the second package and the Twinkies and Ding Dongs were gone in 15 seconds. You were right, they do remind us of home. Please send my sincere thanks to everyone at the Hobbit Hole and especially (300WINMAG) .
. I really cant thank you guys enough. Please let (300WINMAG) know the knife stays on my belt and my gear when we go in harms way. Which is daily.
Life is ok here. We are living in one of Saddams palaces right now. The Iraqis generally are positive toward our presence but they are really not the ones we are worried about. The longer we are here the worse it will get as fanatics from other countries begin to show up. The veterans at the Hobbit Hole will know what I mean. We are being cautious though, we are safe.
then he says some personal stuff about Jill and the grandkids and signs off
Tom

He said "I'm doing fine over here." Not "find" like I typed. Poor guy, now he has to suffer from my typos.

Hello All...I have been (ugh) lurking for some time at your great "Rings" site, and would like to be a part of it, if you guys could use another "Rings Freak".
I ve been a guiet "Freeper" for about three years (only posted a few times),a conservative, from Dubya's home state, and like I said above, a major "Rings Freak". My "Rings" addiction goes so deep that I actually forgave Viggo's "No Bood For Oil" stand because he is such a great Aragron and that wonderful ROTK teaser poster.
Anyway, do I qualify??
Oh, and Ruthy, I'm sorry about your job. You will be in our prayers.

Okay, now, here are parts of the EMAIL thank you that he sent when he found out about Grama's death and then knew that I would not be here to receive the snail mail. (Little did he know that I wouldn't get this one either till I got home to get the snail mail.)
Dear Kim,
[Deleting parts involving funeral, Red Cross connection etc.]
Just wanted to say thank you for the outstanding package you and the great people at the Hobbit Hole sent to us over here in Baghdad. Can you please let [300WINMAG] know that I can't thank him enough for his generosity. His gifts have already proven VERY usefull. In fact I was using the Binos he sent on a raid we did 3 days ago. And the knife never leaves my side. It means alot to me and my men that there are people that care what we are doing over here. I shared his letter and the package with the guys and they were pretty pleased with everything to say the least. The drink powder was great and the Arby's sauce is more valuable than cash! If possible please send the Email on so I can thank everyone personally.
Thanks.
Love Tom
Okay, I added the bold on that one sentence. But, it's important to me. I think it applied both to Tom and to the 82nd. And it makes me get teary eyed.

I got SWISS ROLLS to send with the next box. And some Brownies! I didn't even snitch a Swiss Roll to see ifn I might like it.
But, I got home with the stuff and found out I stupidly bought REDUCED FAT BROWNIES instead of real ones. What a dunce.
