The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh that's funny! It's just what she needs!
Like they say in Steel Magnolias "An ounce of pretention is worth a pound of manure." It runs through my head almost continuously when she's around.

I'm just an Ahhnold fan, so I want to see it too! I confess - ditto.

Maybe because they have large areas to water? Dunno.
To: Wneighbor
That is a good milestone. Yes, one of several. They also had one over Memorial Day weekend. The church next to the family "home place" has a homecoming every May. All of my f-i-l's kids were there. I was the only spouse not there (have I mentioned that this is my last year on the pool board?). But they had flowers in the church in his memory, some of which are now in our front yard.
My dad has been dead 25 years next month. I have to keep remembering that the grieving process takes a while. I know you understand.

Why have such gigantic watering devices in a golf course?? I dunno? to wash the golf carts maybe?

Yeah, but these things were HUGE! I looked up and just nearly died when I saw that huge body of water hurling down on us! The boys dashed onto the golf cart with mom and the rest of us just ran for it.

Jen B: Sounds like you had a fun time! Just finished the first HP book and have gotten about 2/3rds thru the second. They are a good bit like the movies. Will read the others in succession.
2J: Funny about the irrigation! When we were in AZ on vacation in 2000, we rented a house on a golf course. We loved it because the air was so 'soft' on the patio from the nightly watered greens!
OT: Have fun in Kansas. It IS fun meeting other HH'ers!
Gotta get to bed. Joseph starts his Lego Robotic Class in the early morning. This is his second year as a Mentor for the new kids taking the class. He loves doing it, and is very helpful and patient according to the lady running the session. He mentored last year as well.
Am gonna do the Frodo photos tomorrow. I think we got some really good ones today. The trail up the Flume reminded me of Ithilien.
Nite all!

My dad has been dead 25 years next month. I have to keep remembering that the grieving process takes a while. I know you understand. Frankly, I don't like that "takes a while" part. I would just as soon have a big pity party, get it all out, get over it and go on. It pretty much sucks that I get blindsided by emotions when everything's going normal and then I see something that I know I need to share with Grama - or makes me think of something we did. It drinks-through-a-straw.

Maybe they just wanted to chase spectators off the course. :)
To: Wneighbor
Frankly, I don't like that "takes a while" part. Neither do I. And I know this doesn't help, but I still miss my dad.
To: 2Jedismom
at least i am very glad that it seems your golf course is watered with plain water. not effluent.

Neither do I. And I know this doesn't help, but I still miss my dad. Well, at least hopefully tomorrow I won't tear up in class. I really need to be normal while I work. That should be fine. I'm not a basket case or wreck. Just annoyed at emotional sneak attacks.

I need to go to bed too. Talk to ya sometime tomorrow. Don't think I'll be able to FReep from orientation.
To: Wneighbor
We'll be thinking about you tomorrow.
g'nite (again)
To: Corin Stormhands
You want g'nad and I should pay her a visit?I wouldn't inflict her on you guys...no kidding, she's hard to be around.
I once told her she shouldn't cook mac and cheese with hot water from the tap...not really telling her what to do, just general conversation...told her it gets minerals from the water heater in your food. She says with as much disdain as she could muster "I boil the water and the minerals evaporate out."
Yeah...maybe on her planet they do...
