The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I love your out on the town photos!!! Reminds me of home. Where the twisted elf/orc family lives. And the garden photos at the house. He looks like he likes being where food is grown.

Heh...got the car...don't think I can work the several hours thing. I'm supposed to be "at work" this week.

I was afraid of that. And I don't think it wise to stretch my pickup's capability at this point.

They tried to make that family seem quirky, but I keep thinking...hmmm....wouldn't that be nice...

GMTA!!! My thoughts exactly! It might be so nice to have that fictional family. No real family could be that together!

Heh...I like the picture at the hardware store. We had some wind that day and this older black guy on a bicycle stopped to help me get him set up so he wouldn't blow over. He thought I worked for the newspaper!

LOL! That's what we were discussing when we ordered it! But no, it wasn't a bread item.

Okay, so I'm thinking maybe there is real magic in Harry Potter. Jr. borrowed about a half dozen DVDs from his uncle last night. He pulled them out to watch something when the pizza came.

But he's on the couch reading...

('course if I told him who dies, he'd probably watch a movie)

Well, maybe that's why it's so wholesome and keeps one going for such a long time. The only thing it sounds like was needed was perhaps - jalepanos!!!

Yeah, I know. I suppose I'm just exercising pent-up aggression from almost 3 weeks in company of family. Forgive me sir.

G'nite folks. Gotta go get stuff ready for tomorrow.

Wife and boys are going with her sister down to NC. Tomorrow is their Dad's birthday. Kind of a neat story.

One of the last times my wife was down when they called in hospice her dad said he wanted a Reuben sandwich from a restaurant in town. He'd hardly been eating anything at all. The hospice nurse said "give him anything he wants." So, my wife got the sandwich for hiim and he managed about half of it.

Tomorrow my wife and her sisters were just going to go to that restaurant for lunch and have a Reuben in his "honor." Other folks heard about it and at last count they were up to about 10 people.

It will be a hard day. Could have a lot to do with why yesterday was "one of those days" in the Stormhands household.

But Jr. either is or isn't going to spend the week with his aunt and uncle. Something he's done since he was three. He can't decide. On the way home tonite it was yes, I'll stay. Then "she" called (still haven't determined if there is only one she) and he decided he didn't want to miss youth group on Wednesday.

Anyway, I'm washing his clothes and making him pack like he's gonna stay. It won't hurt to be prepared.

See y'all tomorrow.

Not a problem. Swing away sister.

I can't rightly cause a ruckus over the right to dwarvish behavior and then turn around and deny that right to another...even if'n you are an elf. ;-)

Yeah - I am putting mental price tags on a lot of stuff.... the highest value being the space it is taking up!

I had planned to give some stuff to our Parish Garage Sale this Sept. Turns out they aren't having it! I'm trying to decide whether to go to the trouble of having one myself or giving the stuff to the local abused womens' shelter. I'm leaning HEAVILY toward Abby's House!! I just need to spend some quality time in the basement going through stuff. I can combine the 'dump stuff' time with the 'organize it for the move' time. I need to get motivated to do it soon! The Abby's House sale is in September, too, I think. I'll have to call and find out!

I like the Reuben sandwich idea. That is a good milestone. I will be praying for the Mrs. and family so it'll be a good healing time.

Grama had one of those food rallies on Friday night before her death on Tuesday. Hospital "accidentally" didn't have whatever entree we had ordered her and substituted lasagne. Lasagne wasn't on the menu but it is one of her favorite foods. She ate more that night than she had in weeks. It was pretty much her last meal and it was a good one. I personally don't think it was an accident that they ran out of the regular food.

Interesting. - Jr. has a she? That must be one of the goings on I missed. I will have to hear more - especially since I've lost the dating entertainment from Myranda for a while.
