Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Why are they bothering shooting fireworks when it isn't even DARK yet? What a waste!! Gidget sure is cute with her little toy.

Heh, reminds of my little niece hanging on to her precious stuffed Piglet. There was a minor crisis in MA when she went to the store with her mother and lost Piglet and the backup Piglet. The two are never supposed to leave the house together for that very reason, kind of like the President and Vice President. But my sister didn't notice she had both of them. They did manage to get another Piglet somewhere, though.

Evening all, the calm of the evening, puncuated by whisling buzzing cracking and boooming things. So far so good.
Attempted to take Samantha for her walk a bit earlier, like 8:00, still sunny (not a cloud all day), Samantha got about one half block and one kid set off a packet of firecrackers across the tracks, no hysterics.
She just sat down and indicated that "Hey, if you guys want to walk, fine with me, but I'm staying put." We took her back up the street, showed her the couch, turned on the TV for background and went for a walk.
Her "medicine" is on the counter, but our neighbors (the ones with the 72 M-80's) departed for the lake on the southside of town. Hopefully, they will return sans pyrotechnics.
Hair; sorry to hear Giget is distressed, hopefully, she will be relaxed, soon.
Our previous two dogs were hunters, an Engish setter and a Labrador. The lab, Gifford, would get whiny when the fireworks started but once he realized that there was no duck or goose forthcoming, he would just go to sleep.

Logan and Zulu were really good about fireworks.... I actually took them to shows and Zulu would hear them fire and look 'up' to wait for the display. They were cool about it.
Gidget is just a maniac. She is still up too.... hit the couch for awhile, but each new packet of firecrackers gets her back outside again.... "MMMF! MMMF!" The toy is good.

Uh....no, but I got the old one working again. I was going to see if it would still play CD's. So I tilted it a bit when I was checking to see what was plugged where (the power was on) and it made this grinding noise. What the hey...I put a DVD in there and it played!
I've been making some cookies to take to KC.
