Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh, yes! We're going to do girl stuff all weekend - watch movies, stay up late talking, dissect tiny little comments in the latest Harry Potter book, go to the park and mock people's clothing.... have an unbirthday party... all the things I didn't do when I was a kid because I didn't have any galpals.

I have only read a couple of the TNG books so I guess I had nothing to compare
Nemesis to. I still liked it though.
I do however think that something changed when Roddenberry died and Berman took over the whole deal. And I don't think that change was a good one.

It is not that I don't care what you or others think or like. It's not that at all. That was my anger speaking. But what bothers me is that I have to keep a score card of acceptable topics and behavior. That is ridiculous Corin.... Telling 2J off in big red type and insulting her, and me, and many of our lives that we have brought here to share should not have to be on a list of unacceptable behavior, if there was one. You forced me to take a stand.
If you think this is about spam, then your power of perception is not very good. It is about those among us who love to rant and vent here not being able to be told to give it a rest, even nicely, without threatening to leave and hoping everyone will cater to them. Part of the job of being a friend is that sometimes really good friends have to say the hard stuff that needs to be said to make our friend a better person.
This is hard for me. I have very complex feelings about you Corin. I love and miss you when you are not here. But I don't like living under some veiled threat that you will leave again if anyone crosses you. You need to either decide you want in or not. I would like an apology, but more than that I want change. And although you have apologized to Becky, you now also have to work the peace... and work things out with 2J, whatever that takes. I am tired of the opus because everything is unbearable and then returning like nothing ever happened, or worse, last time, returning with this conditional contract that we'd better not cross. Sorry.... I ain't gonna do it. I like the safety of a solid friend I know is as committed as I am, not a roller coaster. I of course can't and would not keep anyone from the thread, but that will be the price to fix things with me.
I keep my life pretty simple, and I happen to think I am pretty simple to get along with.... It is not as complex as it sounds to just be as good of a friend as you would want to have.
