Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well, back to filleting mangos, done so many already, I think the knife needs sharpening.

I want you to understand that this
man at the wheel is my attorney!
He's not just some dingbat I found
on the Strip. He's a foreigner. I
think he's probably Samoan. But it
doesn't matter, does it? Are you
prejudiced?

Rocky Horror Ringer Show In Portland - Demosthenes @ 20:19 PST
Orangeblossom from BitofEarth.net sends along this announcement of a Rocky Horror-style showing of Two Towers in the Portland area on July 5. If you're a fan of MST3k-ing and Rocky Horror - and LoTR - this could be a great night out for you!
BitofEarth.net, the website that brought you the Long Expected Party and Project Elanor, is putting on a fundraising event like no other. The Rocky Horror Ringer show is a fun, quirky, irreverent showing of The Two Towers with a twist, perfect for all those Northwest Rings fans who are tired of being told to sit down, shut up, and keep their hairy feet to themselves during their favourite movie.
What: An MST3K/Rocky Horror-style showing of the movie where everyone is free to snark, plus a variety of other cool events including an Emcee, a lowest-bidder Minion Auction, a Costume Contest (for best AND worst costumes), a Virgin Call, and a Live-Cast performance of selected scenes.
Have to admit their best line:
ARAGORN: (To Eowyn) What do you fear m'lady?
CROWD: ELVES!

The hair is a bit poofy, He's an elf. It ain't just the hair that's "poofy."

Maybe it's the "Aragorn" aroma that still floats around him, but I've seen him in other things and never really noticed him before... I frankly think 'scruffy' looks better on him. He has a real baby-face otherwise. Did you see him as 'Weps' in Crimson Tide
Hidalgo looks good! Clare and I want to see Pirates of the Caribbean. One of the pics I took of Frodo was on 42nd St. and aimed the camera so that the huge billboard with Orlando on it was just over Frodo's shoulder.
I have to get SSQ to re-fit my mouse so that I can download the pics from my digital camera. Right now, my new optical mouse is plugged in to slot designed for the camera download plug.

Lucky for us, she doesn't have a 30-30. But thanks for the good birthday gift idea. :-)For a saddle gun, I'd go with a Ruger .44 Magnum carbine. A 30-30 is a bit of overkill for the purpose, but nobody will argue with a .44. Besides, go modern with an autoloader.
Marlin used to make a "camp carbine" in 9mm or .45ACP. Or go with this cute folding Kel-Tec in 9mm. It uses common hi-cap magazines. It could be carried folded, and snaps into position in about one second.

She only gets paid for actual class time, but does twice as much preparation...

I tell you, my man. This is the

fools not to ride this strange
torpedo all the way to the end.

That Kel Tec thing is very cute. But I'm not too sure a .30-30 is enough if she is going to shoot bears from the horse.
