Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Ah, don't feel too bad (I've heard of those tag-team all-dayers) -- I've now gone over 1,000 resumes and applications sent...and I've managed my one self-funded meagre trip for one interview and one get-to-know-you meeting. Just getting an interview would be a huge step forward!
Sigh...I'm a generalist in a specialist's world, luxury in a meat-and-potatoes economy, icing in a cake market.
I could go on some more, it's one of my specific talents...

Elf in a dwarf cave...
Well, we're up and running again. Had to shut down a couple hours ago and just as everyone was leaving to go home, the AC comes on. *chuckle*

OK EVERYONE! You all need to wish Happy Birthday to my Mr. Chance...he's eight years old today!

It'll be a happy day for him once he gets his romp in the woods.

Happy B-day Mr. Chance!
Give him a nice scratch behind the ears from me.

I could go on some more, it's one of my specific talents... But the talent you are currently honing is being terse!

I'm thinking of giving up on the terse thing. It isn't me.

I AM STILL HERE!Meeting's off.... Very glad I called to confirm the time and place, because the person I am meeting with is out sick! Eeek. If I would have driven 20 miles in 85 degree heat for that I'd have been ticked!
Still have to go to town to get grain and wormer for horses.

I'm still here too! I am over at
this thread. You know what happened today? Matthew was standing, looking at goats and chickens and talking to a young lady (10-12 years old?) and he told her "I don't care for goats that much, I prefer poultry." (The theme for VBS is County Fair). Anyway, the little girl says "Poetry? What does poetry have to do with goats??" Matthew said "Not POETRY...POULTRY!" The girl looked at me like Matthew was out of his mind. I explained that chickens and ducks and such were called poultry. She still looked rather clueless.

You know, he'd prefer that I remain unemployed (he doesn't know about the buying-food thing, still thinks I go out and capture it). He gets walks in the woods almost every afternoon when I'm not working!
To: Ramius; RMDupree
Yeah, sorry also I'll miss you. Hopefully you can meet up with Ruthy, who is very personable, nice and outgoing.

I do that just driving Rose to work every morning. But wouldn't it tick you off to do it if she didn't need to be there?
