The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Oh Sam! :(
We'll all get together at Entmoot, at least.
Ramius - I'm all set for Friday night if you still want to meet up!

They looked really good...and gosh, she has five kids! I don't think they were overworked! LOL
They had a schedule set up right beside the incubator and they signed off on it whenever it was their turn to turn the eggs. It was very well done.
I'll probably get the chicks to you either this weekend sometime or early next week. Maybe we can go for a short ride after Steve comes home one evening?

Yeah, I'm sorry, I think it sucks that I am away just now, but it's unavoidable. I hate to miss a minimoot, esp. and to meet Hair's brother.

Yesterday when I was chopping veggies I guess I dripped some juice onto my keyboard. Last night I would not work so I was unable to post something I really wanted to tell you.
My son and DIL found out yesterday that their baby is a BOY!!!!
HE, grin, is due in Nov!!!

RainX makes a great fog-free windshield application! You can get it at any auto parts store.
Forgiveness was meant tongue-in-cheek. I was just funnin'!

We've got all these blasted computers, with big, giant, monitors- 10 of them between the three of us.I know you're in a government operation, and common sense doesn't always rule. But do you have a suggestion program? Can you suggest some digital KVM switches so you can replace four huge monitors with just one? If you're supposed to turn them off when the temperature goes over 85, it can't be mandatory that they be visible at all times. It would also free up a lot of real estate for both monitor and keyboard. I have three (sometimes four) PCs around my desk at home, and a KVM switch is the only way to fly.
After you sell that idea, then convince them that a large-screen LCD will enhance the system even more, with more space savings, less electrical usage, and NO heat output.
Besides, in today's world, when a glass monitor goes, it's basically unrepairable. LCDs will take over, sooner or later.

I was sending the pictures to the Chaplain's wife and was just looking at them as they were sending. The pictures as they were attached are HUGE and you can see lots of details, like where the chaplain has taken a container of deodorant and stuck it away for himself and a container of Tang sitting there, some of the fireballs that were sent and the Hobbit Hole insert from one of the boxes is sitting on the desk. That's my favorite part of the pictures...looking at all the stuff in the "background".

Hah! You're being entirely too logical! I get what you're saying tho. Fortunately we're in the process of consolidating our systems down a bit. There is a move to replace our sgi and windoze combos with osx boxes. We've got two in here now on a trial basis that are getting rave reviews. Ultimately it could cut the number of machines in half- which would be good on many, many levels.

Once again, I killed the thread an awkward distance from the precious. It's not worth it to spam.

Just checking in. Thread's still dead.
