The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

As you all can see, we have a beautiful well cap in the middle of our front yard...about 6 feet from where our stone path will be. Does anyone have any idea what we can do with it? You could put something like this over it...

No sign of them yet. I have been watching. Would a bad storm keep them in their...den??? this morning? Do coyotes have dens? or what.

I never seen one, they haven't got to the places I hang around yet. But I think most wild animals lie low in bad weather.

It's hot. Again. Wayyyy hot. Ugh. Just got back from a bored meeting- we only went for the AC. One of our two compressors aren't working and with the heat the computers throw off, it's just miserable. We've posted "Sauna Rules" on the doors and such: 1. Clothes must be worn at all times, 2. Do not pour water on the heating elements. Electric shock may result, and 3. Do not remain in the sauna for prolonged periods of time. ;)

I've been thinking about that spigot too. I like the hollow rocks. Since it is off center of your front door, you could put a matching one on the other side kind of a walk thru.
Are you sure there is not some way to turn it off? How did they get it in?
Becky
To: Lil'freeper
Heh...Sauna Rules would apply here, too. ;)
As I think I said yesterday...you'd think someone designing a library these days would consider AC a necessity, but nooooooo.
To: Sam Cree
That's what I was thinking, this morning.

Elizabeth got her first chance to ride yesterday. A friend of hers from church just started volunteering and one of the adult ladies who works at the stables taught them how to saddle the pony and they each had a turn riding the pony.
The owner saw Elizabeth riding and said that she looked competent enough to go ahead and ride the horses in the ring by herself.
She was VERY excited about those developments. ;^)

We've got all these blasted computers, with big, giant, monitors- 10 of them between the three of us. And we're not supposed to use them when the temp in the rooms goes over 85. Last year, the post commander ordered that there be no AC until mid-june to save money. So she had her people go around and pull the breakers for all the AC. We lost many tens of thousands of dollars worth of computer eq. It's crazy.

Don't eat it all! I'm waiting for Corin. :)

Our server room is air conditioned, luckily...but this is still the IT dept, and we have LOADS of computers, all putting out heat. And no cross breeze. Bad for the computers as well as us.

They had eight new chicks at the VBS this morning and all the kids were going crazy over them! Some of the parents were standing around talking to Lisa about it and she filled them in on how they had incubated them!
You done a good thing letting them raise these babies for a few days!
When the eggs started really pipping yesterday and it was obvious that there would indeed be baby chicks, I told all her kids "You did a GREAT job taking care of these eggs!" They all just beamed. They are very very proud!

She's been hooked ever since she knew what a horse was.
