The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The spigot wouldn't be that hard to move up longside the house would it?...

you would think not... dig down, cut the pipe, thread it, put an elbow joint on it, dig a trench to the house, lay the pipe, re-attach the spigot...

the problem is, you can't shut off the water... the spigot is under natural (and quite considerable) pressure... that way, if we lose power (therefore the wellpump), we still got access to water... a great idea.. if'n yuh never want to move the spigot...

We had that storm too, and I am so aggravated. I am having that bunko party tonight, and picked this month for my turn because I figured my flower garden would look great, it did, YESTERDAY:(, Now it is all beat into the ground, my sunflowers and glads are lying in the mud, and all the leaves are covered in mud:(. The garden is my first attempt at flowers, and I was so proud of it. The prizes I got for the bunko was ornamental cement garden stuff, a cement bench, and a couple of birdbaths. I have them out there, but wasn't going to tell that they were the prizes till it was time to give them. Darn, darn, darn.

Ha ha!!

I figure, he's four years old...he can just take a break. What are they gonna do? Fire him?

I went out and checked the coop...the chickens are still in the nest box. Jar jar is pirched with all her feathers out, sneezing. Sigh. The medicine didn't help her at all.

Sounds like a storm last night. We've been getting lots of small ones, have had 11 inches of rain so far this month, 5 inches above normal.

I wouldn't mind movin' it... just gettin' it done without turnin' the front yard into a pond is the issue...

GOOD NEWS (I am still mourning your garden though)

My horse-shoer called and had a cancellation, so he is coming this morning first thing! - (I think first-thing for him is about 10:30)

He wanted to come in the afternoon, but I have to be gone then.

Maybe she has allergies. My dog has been having problems, and I have a horse that has allergies, why not a chicken.

I was picturing you trying to do it with it spraying everywhere. heh.

If you shut the power off (does the well have it's own breaker?) the pressure would eventually bleed off though wouldn't it?
