Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I've actually been doing much better since I've starting trying to eat better. I'm not doing Atkins, but I have cut wayyyy back on sugar and starchy stuff and I'm trying to eat lots of fresh veggies and more protein. Don't know if it's doing much for getting in shape since I'm attributing most gains to just walking, but it does seem to have helped cut back cravings. I'm usually starving by mid-afternoon, and shaky by the time off work. This last week I'm hungry at dinner time, but not shaky. And I can live without candy in the afternoon.
Not that I'd mind having some, but...

Any after taste makes me *shudder*!Yep, me too!
I still can't use Splenda in coffee. I can live with it in tea, but coffee requires sugar!
To: RMDupree
OH NO! Ruthy!
HOW COULD YOU? (did you see that thread?) Lord give me strength.

"Now how much meat, really, do you think you can get off of one chipmunk? That's what I was thinking?? LOL ... kinda not worth the trouble, huh?"
I don't know, it's probably pretty much like eating doves, you need at leat 3 or 4 each, per person ;-)

It surprises me a little that doves are considered a game bird. Robins are bigger.
There is so little meat on a pheasant... I can't imagine wanting to clean anything smaller. I wouldn't Quail hunt either... Just no meat on those things!

Thanks for checking in. I'm so glad her passing was quiet and that someone who loved her so much was close by. Prayers for you and your family.
To: RMDupree
Funny about the blue eye on that one! - That is not a labrador trait, but I can't see any of the herding-breed characteristics in her where that might have come from!

It might be a good idea to be careful about venting too much about outside battles here, we all have done it, but it is risky. Yeah, sometimes Elvira drops by.
To: HairOfTheDog
You think it is valid? yup... that's why I presented my example in my last paragraph... you can learn 'em to give yer place a wide berth, by not providin' an easy meal and makin' the occaisional bad impression on thems that don't get the message...
To: Lil'freeper
YES! - Case in point!

What a pretty girl!
Very unusual eyes...wonder where THAT came from?
To: HairOfTheDog
I thought the same thing. Really strange to see a lab with a healthy blue eye. Must have gotten mixed with something along the way.
Oh, by the way, I found a girlfriend for Bay.
Hey, Big Boy!

I will refrain from posting further on the Hobbit Hole Harumph. If you go, can Smeags stay at least?
To: 300winmag
The idea is to splatter the critter with the first shot, to leave the proper impression on the others, because they do hunt in packs. mmmmmm...splatter...
To: carton253
c'mon back now.. y'here?... I loves yuh smeags...
