The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I'm eating the lo-carb stuff, which is quite good (except for the nasty after taste).

It was a while ago...a little after our first Destructor encounter.

That's why I went out and bought a bag of those Dove promises.
Instead of eating a whole chocolate bar, I can treat myself to one piece at a time and just savor it. They are really good!

Suzi Honest Snaig. It truly was! I was just makin my way through, and happened to hit it just right. Didn't even realize it until I came back just now after fixing another cup of coffee.
Don't know WHY I'm drinking hot coffee, it is BRUTAL out there!
We were 65 degrees on pouring rain on Sunday; I had to wear flannel jammies Sat. night! Yesterday and today are like mid-summer, and we haven't put our A/C's in yet, except for Clare's room. We threatened to camp out on her floor last night!

The nasty after taste is what turns me off of the sugar substitutes, etc. I just can't used to it for some reason.
I know it is possible, since folks do it all the time.

Everyone who comes into my office gives me strange looks since I am wearing a sweater and it is at least 87 degrees outside.
I must have a low-grade fever or something because I can't get rid of the chills.

Instead of eating a whole chocolate bar, I can treat myself to one piece at a time and just savor it. They are really good! My problem is that most of the time I'm not good enough to stick to one. Yeah, they're tougher to eat 'cause you gotta unwrap them one at a time, but that just slows me down...doesn't stop me.
Chocolate is my nemesis. *sigh* But I love it so!

Now how much meat, really, do you think you can get off of one chipmunk? mmmmm... chipmunk... 'lot like popcorn shrimp... or balrog wings... just pop 'em in and chew 'em up...
To: SuziQ; RMDupree
The Nestles stuff is good too...
The Carbolite bars are not bad, and neither is this new brand (don't remember name) I bought. An after taste, but not a bad one.

I'm surprised he didn't talk about barbecuing Hobbits! LOL! I think it was a mesquite vs hickory debate.

Will birdshot kill them? We're thinking 22. I want to kill one and hang it on the fence to scare others away. First thing to consider is, what's downrange from the target? How much of a "safe area" do you have if you miss? And how close are they to you?
A .22 is probably the last thing I'd use. If ranges are tight, a 12 ga. with #4 buckshot works well. If you have a mile or more safe zone behind the target, I'd go with something like a .223. A .22 is a poor choice, unless you can assure yourself of multiple hits. The idea is to splatter the critter with the first shot, to leave the proper impression on the others, because they do hunt in packs.

I don't hold with killin' fer no reason... but a chicken thievin' yote's got a bullet comin'...
ponies are a great deterrent... and the reason we're gettin' guineas is cuz they can fly away from predators... while makin' a ruckus...
agreed... an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure... besides... a hangin' yote draws flies and buzzards...
now... when I wuz stationed in 29 Palms, we lived way out... packs of yotes were wanderin' up to the house... I shot one... then I kept shootin' at the packs (not to kill) to spook 'em everytime I saw 'em... everytime they came past, they were a little further away... till they wouldn't come within 500 meters of the house...
To: HairOfTheDog
That ain't true. I torment you in a different way! :)

Mommy?

Yes, but slowing down is half the battle! LOL!
I set out 3 pieces and I make them last all day. Or at least try to.

I don't hold with killin' fer no reason... Comments you make that are intended to torment me aside, I think you have adequate ethics about it! :~D certainly! And I am armed and would shoot one that had learned to be bold enough to go after the cat, who is too old and blind to stray out of the yard, or shoot one that was bold enough to stand ground against the dog.
Wondered what you thought of my theory in the last paragraph... if you can train the devils you know, won't they keep out the devils you don't know. You think it is valid?
