The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Heh, we only got our cable modem at the start of the month, we were on dialup before that. We haven't had time yet to be spoiled by hi-speed Internet! ;)

"Felt plenty comfortable after a long day." Funny how after a long day outdoors, how comfortable some crummy bed can feel. Or how delicious the most basic cooking seems to taste.

OK Hair, what's the secret handshake? I've tried twice to send a pic from my York album, but twice I've gotten the dreaded Red X in a Box! I didn't use the Drag and Drop feature to upload the pictures to the York album, just the standard way, but I wouldn't think that would have any effect on my trying to hot link a picture to here. I noticed that when I saw the 'Properties' addy, there wasn't a 'jpg' designation or anything. I tried adding .jpg to the Properties addy and that didn't work either.
Any suggestions?
To: SuziQ
Don't add the extension, it should post without it, as is.
Make sure you "select all" on the properties before you copy since they are so long.
Try it again, and post it even if it doesn't work, and I will look at your code.

OK, here we go. I copied the entire URL that was shown in the window. What do you mean by "select all"? Anyway here's the x in the box.

This is supposed to be a picture of the SuziQ family at #1 son's UMass graduation.
Yikes! I got the 666!

I don't know what came over me. I posted on the religious threads... It took exactly 1 minute before the typical crap started.
Someone save me from myself.

Oh! So THAT'S the secret handshake! Here goes.

Woo Hoo!! Thanks, Hair!
To: SuziQ
WOO HOO indeed!
There is a couple of cool tools you might want to install, that make posting pictures and links a lot easier, and I highly recommend it!
The first is Paessler GmbH | IE Booster 2 | IE Booster is a collection of tools to extend the functionality of the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser for windows
This little program installs tools to your right click button. What it does for you is allows you to right click a picture and "Copy image source to clipboard" all in one step. Then you just have to paste it.
The other tools I use alot are the ability to "copy a page as < A HREF="URL">Title< /a>" in one step without having to write it all out... and it allows you to right click a link on a page you want to copy/paste somewhere else in the same way, and the link will post exactly as it appeared where you got it.
The other tool is from MSoft... Microsoft Web Developer Accessories
This one is cool. It allows you to highlight text on a page and right click it to "view partial source" this enable you to copy the source code that created the part of a page you want to copy without viewing the source for the WHOLE page. It also allows you to highlight something cool you'd like to know how to do and you can see the code that makes it happen.
That is the tool I use to copy news from TORN so that it looks exactly like it did at TORN.

Whoa! One step at a time. I'm sitting here proud of myself for just posting a digital picture from York! LOL! I'll try that other stuff another day!
Thanks for your help! Now I'll be able to send some great photos of the MA mini-moot and of Frodo!
To: SuziQ
By the way.... Is that you and your kids? - You didn't introduce it! What an upstanding family!

HAH! - Information overload?
Install the first one from Bressler.... You will not even notice it is there until you right click, and you will have the option to "copy img src to clipboard".... Doing it the long way like I just did to remember how to talk you through it made me crazy in comparison.
There are some parts of it, some tools, I did not install. You can choose parts you will use, and it walks you through it... if you don't recognize the need, you can unclick them. They don't hurt anything, they just clutter up your right click menu.

Unfortunately they are not here to offer aid and comfort, or assistance in religion wars...
Don't know where they are today.

Is that you and your kids? Oh, sorry! Yeah, that's us, minus the #2 son. I had mentioned that the first two times I tried to post it. I forgot when it finally went through!
