The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well I need to hit the hay. If I get up when I'm planning to (a pretty big if) I'll have time to check in here before I head out.
Good night!
To: ecurbh
If I don't see you in the morning over coffee, then have a very good trip, take pictures of your moot with SuziQ and Flat Frodo!

LOL! No, Sam. The infamous thing about our wedding anniversary is that x42 and Her Heinous were married on the same day in the same year! It was also the day that SNL debuted. We didn't see it. ;o)
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm hoping we can go see TTT. It is still playing at the cheap theater about 20 mins. away from here. Clare and I have only seen it 4 times, and we need to see it at least one more time in the theater to equal FoTR!
To: Sam Cree; ecurbh; ItsOurTimeNow
ecurbh is going to be staying close to where we live! I'm hoping we can go see TTT while he's here. We were hoping It's Our Time Now could join us, but he can't get away from work during the week, and Clare and I will be gone on the weekend.
I guess ecurbh and IOTN could get together on the weekend, if it worked out for them.
To: SuziQ
Well, I hope you guys take pictures, and bring Flat Frodo!
You said you needed help posting pictures earlier.... Which part do you need help with? getting digital pictures or actually getting them on the web?

I have the digital camera, and know how to download the pics to my computer. I even know how to e-mail them to people, but I haven't investigated that place that 2J and some others use to import them to FR. I'm assuming that once the pictures are sent to York that I just use the 'properties' feature, get the URL and post it as an image source the same as I do with the birthday greetings pictures. Is that right? If not, let me know, and if you have the addy for the York place, could you please send it to me?
To: SuziQ
Yep, that is right! York is the place I use too...
www.yorkphoto.com
Create an album, and upload the pictures using their instructions. I installed their 'drag and drop' applet that makes it super easy.
The properties are really super long to copy, but the images are really stable - the links stay good forever... so far! ;~D

Morning everyone.
Sunny at the moment, but rain expected later. This is the rainiest June I remember in about 10 years. 11, actually.

That's going to be a fun trip. Cool that you will meet Suzi.
I think the airport security mainly bother you if you are wearing heavy clunky looking shoes on a flight, or strangely, if you are a small happy looking kid like my daughter, who is regularly taken out of the line to have her carry on bags searched. Maybe her knapsack fits some profile, who knows.
But people with clunky shoes, (which are in style now?) get attention.

Goooooooood morning!
I'm so hyped up. Why? Well, lookee at this pile of dirt/hole-in-the-ground.

That would be the start of the foundation of the house! The hole should be a bit deeper today- hopefully they'll pour the foundation today, too. Been a long time coming. I still want to bite someone* in the permits office.
*Peanuts reference. Snoopy got in 'snake' moods where all he wanted to do was slink about and bite people. I'm not actually threatening the morons.
To: JenB
I'm taking a vacation! Yaaaaaaay! Vacations are good for the soul. Hope you have a grand time!
To: Sam Cree
Morning! That big yellow thing in the sky is going to take some getting used to. :)
To: Lil'freeper
So...did you make them an offer they couldn't refuse?
To: ecurbh
I'm a bit nervous about security though. Wear slip-on shoes in case you have to take them off for security. Was recently in sky harbor (phoenix) chuckling at the poor couple who wore boots and wranglers. They put on quite a melodrama getting their footgear off.
To: Overtaxed
No, just threatened to sue for the price of the house plus the additional financial, logistical, and emotional burden the delay has cost us. Fortunately there were 20+ other families similarly inconvenienced and just as antsy. It was in the builder's best interest to get its act together. I won't launch the PR campaign against the county until we settle on the house. Don't want any retaliatory nonsense to hold up the final permeit. ;) Given the phone conversations I've had with them, they're pretty juvenile.
To: Overtaxed
Yeah, the mosquito population is getting out of control from all the rain. 'Course, I kind of like the little things.
