The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I still need a new job, but I will not really starve until maybe November, so I have time. More time than I thought. Whew!

I told you you will not starve. I will send Ramen noodles.

Aw, you don't have to say anything ... you just said it. Prayers is all I need. I'm a grama's girl. She told me last week that she wanted me to get a life. LoL. (and here I thought I had one.)

Perfect for a kid like mine who is as much or more in to the "collecting" aspect than the game itself.

Oh, he'll love this. It also makes gift buying easy! The last two Christmases, St. Nick has brought our #1 son new armies. Christmas 2002 was "Sisters of Battle"; in the storyline, the constitution of the country forbad raising an army of men, so they used women! This past Christmas, it was the "Tomb Army", which looked like a blend of the skeletal army in Armies of Darkness and the army of dog headed creatures in The Mummy Returns. After Christmas he bought a new set of medieval figures, and their uniforms look for all the world like the Papal Swiss Guards dress uniforms. They are just so colorful!

He's always enjoyed those kinds of 'take over the world' games. I look at it this way, if that's the way my son is spending his money and extra time, I'm thrilled!! He's been able to partially finance his Warhammer habit by buying unpainted figures, then selling then on Ebay!

Thanks - Don't think you need to send the Ramen noodles yet... But I am glad you are with me! - Tomorrow morning I will look and send out another batch of resumes, and then stay on top of looking for opportunities. I really don't have to find a whole job, just half of one. Something fun that will get me out of the house. The job I have just won't fully support me anymore, it isn't going away completely unless several bad things happen.

WN - We are all here for you, but it is hard to know exactly what to say.

Tell Grama you have a fine life and that being with her is exactly where you want to be. Are you heading back up to Grama after Wednesday class then?

LOL!! Just read your profile! Our #1 son just graduated from UMass Amherst! He's still around the town for the summer, then he's off to Cornell Law School in the fall.

We're homeschoolers, too, though we didn't h/s the two older boys. I was nervous I wouldn't be able to concentrate on their studies with the two younger ones knocking around. I was just a weenie! We're enjoying homeschooling very much. It is so neat to be able to enjoy what interesting kids we have when they're home all day and can talk with us about the things that excite them!

Is your oldest into live-action role playing? Our older boys were into that big-time. #2 son still goes sometimes. He attended the North/South war up in NH the weekend of 6/15.

I'm trying to figure out a chicken tractor that is made with PVC pipe and tarps.

I'm sorry. Every time I see the words "chicken tractor", the image of a chicken riding a miniature John Deere comes into my mind. :)

As far as PVC pipe goes, the smaller diameter may get a bit "saggy" if the structure is too big, and the bigger pipe gets heavy. But it might just work.

I was given the assignment from Grama last week to go ahead and bring home the canned goods. Let me know when you need some. We will have enough for you and I. And for you and I to both find mates. And for you and I and our mates to both have a baseball team of kids. Although I will pass on that, at least we can eat.

Aren't you glad we ain't close to 85 yet? Actually I like this concept. She is 85. So, she is young until she is ready to go. Not a bad way of life.

Come with me! - We will not starve!

No need to say anything. I am actually more okay with this than I could have ever imagined.

(I reserve the right not to be okay with it at any future time of course!!!)

As far as Grama telling me to get a life, it's kind of her philosophy to fill up a life with absolutely everything possible. Eveything you can fit in there. I think I inherited that mentality from her but she was giving me a last shot of reinforcement.

The age for not being young anymore is 85.

That works for me! I've got a few years, yet!! Tell your Grama that you've got a lot of friends praying for her AND you!
