The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.

I think Rose has read that one, or at least she knows of it. She has an incredible number of paperbacks... one of my tasks while I've been off from work has been to try organizing them. That's a full-time job by itself.

I'm all over it sis!

I got the feed at the feedstore you recommended...the owner, the very nice man, gave me the whole speech about why it is so much better and sold me completely. I got 50lbs! Lisa has it and my heat lamp. She didn't mention any peeping, but I was just fixin' to write and tell her to get out her stethoscope and listen.

You bet you can come by tomorrow! I'll show you my babies. Why don't you come over for lunch after you get done with your chores? I could make turkey sandwiches on wheat bread with tomatoes and mayo!

Thank you Bear! I'll try to pop by more often!

Appreciate the game recommendations. We started with BG2. I was an avid AD&D player in my youth, so once I realized how good these new PC games were, and we had a PC good enough to play them, we went through all the BG games (still haven't finished the original). Also currently playing IWD2. Amazing graphics, incredible soundtrack, a little too "linear" for my taste - I like the wide-open role playing of BG, and the all the NPC's.

Neverwinter is our next definite get. We just ordered a video card that will let us play it, once it arrives we'll pick it up. My son is looking forward to using the tool to design his own adventures, and I've started looking at fan-made mods to download (takes forever via dial-up, unfortunately). I'll check out the others you mention. We're also looking forward to "Knights of the Old Republic", the Star Wars RPG, due out in the fall.

Please ping me to your LEG movie review. :-)

Hold the tomatoes and you have a deal:). I have been riding for about 1 1/2 hours, so could probably be at your house by 12:00. Will you mind having a horse in a trailer in your road/driveway?

I'm savoring it. I'm only on page 90. I vegged this weekend and just watched movies instead. I'm going to start reading again in a sec as I'm answering phones at the front desk right now and I'm just filling in and have nothing to do but surf the net or read.

I know who dies already though dang it. Someone posted it on a message board in really small print so you can't read it normally. But then I tripped on the keyboard and accidentally copied it and pasted it into my notepad to see who it was. I hate when that happens ;-)

LOL....well, send me your address, I know it's behind Riverview Baptist Church, so I should be able to find it pretty easy. Just don't want to get stuck somewhere with the trailer.

Microsoft has a new one out in the Age of Empires line, called "Age of Nations". I think that might be our next purchase.

Please ping me to your LEG movie review. :-)

Will do! :)

OHH..send my your phone number again too. If I get to running late, my horse every once in while gets silly about getting in the trailer, I could call. I can't remember where I wrote it down at.

He's also getting interested in Warhammer figures and hobby gaming. Fun activity for us to do together.

Glad you popped into the Hobbit Hole for a visit.

Our #1 son started his role playing games in the 4th or 5th grade with D & D, then went on to do some Warcraft and online games. He began to be interested in Warhammer in high school He just graduated college and is off to law school in the Fall, but he STILL loves Warhammer. He has been buying the figures and painting them himself. You have to have a good eye and steady hands to do that. I think I'd go blind! One of the brushes he uses has only ONE strand of whatever it is made of, and I'm not exaggerating!

He does good work though, and enjoys it tremendously. He says it is relaxing, and when he's done, has great looking figures to use for gaming. He went to a competition at the Games Workshop store in Cambridge MA, and came away with the Grand Prize, a cool looking trophy! He didn't win all the battles, but got lots of points for how well his figures were painted! ;o)

I think it is something you and your son would really enjoy!

I was reading this post again, if Lisa is using your heat lamp, what are orpies using, or is it warm enough now for them?
