Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I talked to a woman who's son is a Marine in Iraq for a long time. She said that it come to the point where the MREs don't have any taste anymore and she was picking the berries so she could freeze them and make him muffins when he came home. I nearly cried. Can you get in touch with that woman? If so, we could do a one-time-only poagie bait shipment to her son.

The hay guy and I put off the delivery now until Tuesday evening because of the potential for rain. The sky is uncertain and moody, but it definately won't rain now! < /murphy >
'sposed to clear up by Tues... Better safe than sorry.

Yeah I would take them, I could get rid of some of the roosters I already have, they're not pets, so It would be a good way to refresh the gene pool:)

Have been reading a little Hemingway recently, "Islands in the Stream."
Apparently the guy was personally something of a jerk, but he can evoke some feelings like no other. I admired his writing when I was younger, some of it anyway, guess I still do.

Hemingway on the dock at Bimini in the 30's, with his Tommy gun. It would be fun to have one of those. Barefoot, it looks like.

Oh that is so nice that you would take them! I was just planning on asking and if you couldn't, just telling the boys that is where they went! LOL
These two chickens are so spoiled though! I just put their new waterer in their pen...it's suspended from a chain and holds a gallon of water. They can only access it if they step up onto a cinderblock. That way, they don't scratch dirt into their water.
Right now, though...they are terrified of it. Have no idea what it is and won't go near it! LOL They'll figure it out.

That is a fine fish!
Then he began to pity the great fish that he had hooked. He is wonderful and strange and who knows how old he is, he thought. Never have I had such a strong fish nor one who acted so strangely. Perhaps he is too wise to jump. He could ruin me by jumping or by a wild rush. But perhaps he has been hooked many times before and he knows that this is how he should make his fight.

You know, I didn't even get her name. We talked for about 45 minutes or so and I never thought to ask...we just happened to be beside each other picking berries.
I did tell her to tell her son thank you for me. And I told her about that woman handing the me the money at the garage sale.

I love the New Zealander thread, where we were counting how many times we had seen FoTR, where the number changed every day... and we were so excited we'd all decide to get up and go to the movie right then!

Need to figure out why my DVD playing software keeps freezing up. Or maybe I should find a program to convert DVD to VCD so I can watch 'em on WMP.
