Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Extended TTT DVD Spoilers from TORN:
The Two Towers Extended Edition DVD
Calisuri @ 11:50 am EST
By now, you have all seen the amazing picture of the upcoming The Two Towers Extended Edition. (Check out that Gollum statue from Sideshow/Weta Collectibles!) Today, Amazon.com is pre-ordering the Extended Edition for pretty cheap. We expect other retailers to be posting it and the boxed set for pre-order in the next few days. We'll update this page to reflect that information.
Here is a little more information about the TTT Extended edition, compiled by Ringer staffers Maegwen and Leo:
Features:
- DVD 4-disc set with 43 minutes of new and extended scenes added to the film (also available on VHS)
- 2 bonus discs of all-new special features
Additional scenes: (Possible Spoilers)
"I think the thing I am most excited about is the fleshing out and expansion of the Treebeard/Ent story," Peter Jackson told the Fan Club magazine. "His story, more than any other single part of the film, was reduced for the theatrical version. Most of the Treebeard stuff is humorous. We have a great scene - which I really would have loved to put in the theatrical version - where he recites really bad poetry to the Hobbits, who are desperately trying not to fall asleep because that would be rude, and they don't want to be rude. In addition to the Treebeard material in that storyline, we also have a really funny sequence with Merry and Pippin and the Ent-draught, which is pretty much taken right from the book. There are a lot more surprises in that extra Fangorn material."
- Sean Bean's Boromir, slain at the end of 2001's The Fellowship of the Ring, is resurrected in a lengthy DVD flashback after brother Faramir (David Wenham) finds a boat bearing his body. (Confirmed by USA Today)
- Additional scenes featuring Denethor, the Steward of Gondor, his favorite son, Boromir, and scapegoat Faramir. The scenes help explain why the noble Faramir is rather rude when he meets heroic hobbits Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin). (Confirmed by USA Today)
- Rohan horseman Eomer (Karl Urban) finds his mortally wounded cousin Theodred and brings him home, where his subsequent death goes all but unnoticed by his spell-stunned father, King Theoden (Bernard Hill). (Confirmed by USA Today)
- Eowyn (Miranda Otto), Eomer's sister, sings a mournful dirge during Theodred's funeral. (Confirmed by USA Today)
- Additional scene expanding on Eowyn's infatuation with Aragorn, as she watches him tame an unruly horse. (Confirmed by USA Today)
- Expanded encounters between ancient Treebeard the Ent and hobbits Pippin (Billy Boyd) and Merry (Dominic Monaghan). Treebeard's un-hasty conversation makes the two hobbits drowsy. (Confirmed by USA Today)
- Eowyn serves Aragorn a vile-looking bowl of homemade stew, which he politely chokes down. (Confirmed by USA Today)
- Boromir and Faramir sharing some pints, and one declares in beer-ad fashion, "Today, life is good." (Confirmed by USA Today)
- Pippin and Merry guzzle Ent-draughts, adding inches to their wee stature. (Confirmed by USA Today)
- The Huorns at Helm's Deep. (Speculation)
- Additional Gollum scenes.(Speculation)
- Faramir discovers Boromir's boat, triggering the above scenes as flashbacks.(Speculation)
- Eowyn sings a dirge at Theodred's funeral . (Speculation)
- Gandalf and Aragorn discussing the union of Two Towers, seen in the "Two Towers" video game but not the movie. (Speculation)
- Eowyn fighting to defend the women and children in the Glittering Caves.(Speculation)
- Saruman discussing how Gandalf has discovered the lost king of Gondor.(Speculation)
- More exploration of Aragorn and Arwen's relationship. (Speculation)
- Possible reforging of Narsil. A shot has been seen of Arwen approaching the shards in Rivendell, but was not included in theatrical version.(Speculation)
- Elrond in Lothlorien. Haldir tells Theoden he 'brings word from Elrond' at Helm's Deep. The ten-minute TTT preview contains a shot from a possible scene of a face-to-face discussion taking place in Galadriel's realm.(Speculation)
We will post more information as it becomes available. And as always, pre-ordering through TheOneRing.net sponsored links will help TheOneRing.net stay online and pay our bandwidth bills coming December! Thank you in advance!

Yeah - It was sad, I am afraid for what will happen now... Will it be bought? - Will it sit empty? Will it be torn down for offices and apartments?

300 WM ; like wall decor, is that a Fairborne and how bout the folder, a Case? Each one focuses on a different item. Who's next? The fixed-blade knife is a Gerber Mark II 20th anniversary model. It's like the original with the stainless steel "cat's tongue" coating on the handle, and the 7-degree slant to the blade. The folder is a Case stag Wright Brothers commemorative from 1988. The Princeton LCD was courtesy of one very good month on eBay.
As far as messy goes, I'm an amateur. I've managed to sneak pictures of exceptionally messy offices in my support job, and will post some real beauts if I can find them.

Have a good evening!
Tired here too, probably going to wander off to bed soon.
I now hold Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in my grubby little hands. I'm going to collapse into bed now. After reading a couple chapters first of course....

Good Morning, everyone.
It's not raining!
To: Overtaxed; HairOfTheDog; 300winmag
Good morning All; it's not raining here either.
OT; glad to hear you may have Sun today. Any luck with the lawnmower blade?
Hair: nice job on the barn, bet you found stuff you thought was lost.
300WM: very nice blades, I remember seeing the gerber being advertised. I have one gerber, they're nice blades.
Got some digging to do today, we're planning on putting in a brick threshold under the other backyard gate. Got the lumber, left over bricks and sand, now to get moving, we're burning daylight.

Morning. I haven't rassled with the blade lately. :) I'm thinking about staying here this weekend....garden is probably too swamped to do anything.
Did I tell ya they want me out in KC right after the 4th?
To: osagebowman; Overtaxed

It stopped raining here yesterday. Now we have squadrons of mosquitoes.....eat more garlic.
To: osagebowman
we're planning on putting in a brick threshold under the other backyard gate. next big yard project here is laying a stone path from the front porch to the vehicles... gotta till, mix in sand, tamp, and lay 'em down... I ain't lookin' forward to it... maybe with yer expertise from your project you could come lend a hand?... heh heh heh...
To: osagebowman
bet you found stuff you thought was lost. That would be in the tool department. I have not been good about putting stuff back where it belongs, and I have had a heck of a time lately finding tools when I needed em...
Gotta see today if maybe there is a way I can lock that tool cabinet. Up until now all the really good tools I keep in the house because the barn doesn't lock...
It would be good to not have tools in my living room!

The sand and the tamping is the thing that always scares me about those stone or brick walk projects when I see them on TV.

Hey OT! sunshine here too!
mrsnad is makin' blueberry pancakes with blueberries we picked yesterday... is $1.55 lb a reasonable price fer u-pick berries? I have no idea...
we've considered planting a half dozen blueberry bushes... and half dozen apple trees... not like we ain't got room on the homestead... any of you green thumbs know a good source and variety fer blueberry bushes and apple trees?... other than the obvious Lowes, Home Depot etc...
To: HairOfTheDog
Heh....I have a flagstone walk that needs regrading and extending.
To: HairOfTheDog
it's the diggin'and tillin' that I'm dreadin... the soil here is very rocky... it's backbreakin' work... even with a tiller...
btw, great job on the barn... you've got a great facility... I'm envious...
yer alot like me... once you get started, you want to finish the job... even if it takes all night...
To: g'nad
is $1.55 lb a reasonable price fer u-pick berries? Sounds good to me. You can pay more than that for a little 2 cup package at the grocery store.
I haven't grown blueberries before. If you can find some local nursery place or maybe tha agricultural extension folks in MO can help you out with what's best to plant. My growing conditions and your growing conditions aren't the same. :)
To: g'nad
:~D
It has been a facility that works.... If I were designing it from scratch I would have done a lot differently, but I am so pleased with how this place turned out, the rent being so cheap and all... Who knows what they used that building for before, but it wasn't a barn. Dad and I built those stalls.
