Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Just got in! I went to Walmart and got the wheat germ and tins for my muffins...got all the way home and found out that the flour I thought was whole wheat flour was actually rye...
Now I don't know if rye flour would be good for blueberry muffins, but I decided not to chance it. I went to Akins and got the flour I needed. Also picked up a half dozen little Brown Cow Yogurts, the kind that is made with whole milk. You have to stir in the 1/4 inch of cream at the top, but oh my heavens it is excellent. The boys snacked on it all the way home.

redhead has pointed out that the low fat, high carb diet that is so often pushed by heart people is kind of like a third world type diet. My own experience tells me that it's unhealthy. I didn't realize how bad I was feeling until I put fat and protein back in my diet and suddenly felt years younger. Not to mention 10 pounds lighter.

I'm bad...I don't always stir the cream in. It's VERY tasty on its own...
I have a fresh container of the plain kind sitting in the fridge at home. That cream with a little maple syrup drizzled over it...mmmmmm!

OK, see everyone later.

This is the only decent yogurt I can find here...and it's only at the one store. I had been telling the boys I would get them some, so when I realized I needed whole wheat flour, I decided instead of getting the Pilsbury brand, I'd go on a bit of an adventure and get something different and get them their yogurt at the same time.
I'm so tickled they'll eat it! Especially Matthew who is so PICKY about everything! Sure, it was vanilla flavored (his favorite flavor). He slurped it down!

The most contentious we get over here is when the case is made that Aragorn rode Boromir's coattails to the throne.Don't forget about the lembas discussions.

At least you taught him to say "toot"... unlike my little deviants...LOL! - My good friend Bob is a retired country sherrif with bit of a rough vocabulary... and he and his wife are the ones who adopted the baby from Romania. The wife is quite a bit younger and works 8-5, so the girl has grown up with Daddy at home with her.
Little girl ran in to a door once and said G#*$(*# D@*#$# F$@#*!!!!!
And without batting an eye the mom looked at dad and said.... No matter what, Bob, you must live long enough to explain this child's mouth to her teachers.
He now picks her up at school every day (catholic school).... explaining as necessary. :~D
