Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

BASIL!! I love basil. I have 2 pots in my living room now. YUM. I didn't put any in the ground last year because I have these 2 pots that have re-seeded themselves liberally for a couple of years. One's lemon basil and one's lime basil. I used to always put in some other varieties also but when I moved and was so busy I just left these two pots for using this year. I'm actually still getting basil off them every week although I'm fixin' to have to put 'em out on the back porch to do that go-to-seed thing if I'm going to use em another year.
And, alas, the only veggies I got out last year were tomatoes and peppers. But, those were good.

No, my daughter and I are driving down to Austin on Friday and going with Bear and Rose. You could come. They have planes that fly from Washington to Austin. -- Right Bear?

RE: Menu
Well, I just browsed (read drooled) over the menu. Keep in mind I spent the last 48 hours disciplining (semi) myself to try to lose extra jeans size gained over holidays.
With that in mind. I want one of everything.

Boy, I am going to have to pass on Texas.... have to save my money for Florida!
To: Wneighbor
c'mon over, we have more than we can eat, the leftovers will have to be made into a salad, with some being saved for smoking later.
To: HairOfTheDog
Yeah....problems.

"extra jeans size gained over holidays."
Yes, me too, have been afraid to get on a scale since Christmas...Friday is the day of reckoning. Hoping for the best, though.
To: Wneighbor
My tomatoes didn't do didly last year....but then we did have a drought. Usually I get more basil from one plant than I can use in a year and I have to give it away.
To: Sam Cree
MMMmmm. I'll just have to savor it right here. Whilst I'm giving my students a nasty little test.
To: Sam Cree
I'm in denial. I don't even go near scales anymore. I just tell by whether I'm in clothes, big clothes, huge clothes or elastic baggies.

Well, I do lots of stuff with basil. Like graze. I like the lemon and lime basil a lot. So, I just eat it as I walk by the pots.
To: HairOfTheDog
Hair; was able to read the whole interview, that filled up the cache however, so I wasn't able to see any other comments to it; hence my posting on the HH III thread.

We make a lot of pesto. I like pesto. But, with my basil plants. I cut what needs cutting and just snip it up over pasta, bread, in salad or almost anything I'm eating that day. Cut it up in salsa. My food gets pretty boring and repetitive sometimes. But, I enjoy it.

Ok, I'm here...what's up?
The movie was fanstastic. Just fantastic. I like it every bit as much as FOTR and if I could, I would sit for 6 solid hours watching it all together.
I just love every minute of it.

we are in chat!
To: Wneighbor
I like to put it fresh in salads and tomato sauce. I've used the homegrown so much that the store bought tastes weak.
To: HairOfTheDog
Give me the link...I doubt it'll work though, from her Imac...
