Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.
Behave yourself. We'll have company today.
well... I wouldn't say he died well... he got stuck when his skirt got hung up... and then he lost his focus and got it in the back... but, he didn't squeel like the others...
I just was not impressed with the close quarter combat skills of the elves (Legolas excluded)... gear was to restrictive, ... probably why they prefer stand off weapons...
And I guess Agent Smith was back in Rivendell packing...
Yeah! Hair, we have back-up today. Elves always show up for support even when it's not written in to the book!
In the book, elves, dwarves, and others were under attack themselves....they didn't have to go to Helm's Deep to fight orcs.
First of all, thanks Sam Cree and Bear_in_RoseBear for the birthday greetings! I had a marvelous dinner last night and admittedly ate WAY too much (prime rib, 2 lobster tails, sauteed mushrooms, escargot and lot of fresh bread). For my birthday, Glen bought me the PC game of LoTR : FoTR. My home PC has a 4MB video card and the game needs an 8MB, so the picture was jumpy in the intro and then froze completely when I tried to go to Bywater to find Ted Sandyman's missing metal pin for the mill! LOL!
I'll have to upgrade before I can play it all the way through, but I did get to play for an hour - just trying to learn the moves and find the keys and deed to Bag End to give to the S-B's before I could leave. :)
That's why I never made it back in here last night. I was completely absorbed in my new game! Tee hee!
OK, being that we are going to have visitors and all, I want to prepare a meal that will be suitable for so many guests. Here goes:
Breakfast sandwiches - scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon, ham and sausage. Or you can skip the biscuit and eat them a la carte!
I've also prepared baby back ribs, prime rib (last night inspeired me), Porterhouse steaks (cooked to order), 2 roasted turkeys and honey baked ham.
For sides, I've got sauteed mushrooms, corn on the cob, baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, collard greens, cole slaw, macaroni salad and baked beans. French fries and chicken fingers are available for the kiddies (or anyone else)!
And lastly, for dessert: fresh baked apple and/or blueberry pie, hot fudge brownie sundae, root beer floats, tres leches, chocolate chip and/or oatmeal raisin cookies, flan and jello. :)
ENJOY!
Hair, thanks again for making this new Hobbit Hole such a great place to be! I don't know how I ever got along without it! *hug*
An Ode to the Hobbit Hole's Dwarfhunks
To the tune of "The Lumberjack Song" by Monty Python
Dwarf: (Overtaxed!)
I am a little dwarf and I'm OK.
I sleep all night and I flit all day.
Garden Gnome Choir: (All the elf-bashers!)
He's a little dwarf and he's OK.
He sleeps all night and he flits all day.
Dwarf: (G'nad?)
I wear Elf-shoes and pointy ears
and climb up Mallorn trees.
I like to wear Elf-dresses
And join Galadriel for tea.
Garden Gnome Choir:
He wears Elf-shoes and pointy ears
and climbs up Mallorn trees.
He likes to wear Elf-dresses
And join Galadriel for tea.
Yes, he's a little dwarf and he's OK.
He sleeps all night and he flits all day.
Dwarf: (Corin!)
I speak Elf-words and sing Elf-songs
Though my accent is quite weird.
I make up pretty poems
And weave flowers in my beard.
Garden Gnome Choir:
He speaks Elf-words and sings Elf-songs
Though his accent is quite weird.
He makes up pretty poems
And weaves flowers in his beard.
Yes, he's an an elfie-dwarf and he's OK.
He sleeps all night and he flits all day.
Dwarf: (any HH dwarf will do)
I like to sneak! And find trees that speak.
I eat lembas for my lunch.
My dwarf friends are so jealous that
Their skivvies are in a bunch!
Garden Gnome Choir:
He likes to sneak! And find trees that speak.
He eats lembas for his lunch.
Us dwarf friends are so jealous that
Our skivvies are in a bunch!
Yes, we are all elfie-dwarves and we're OK.
We sleep all night and we flit allllll daaaaaaay!
Give it a rest.
We don't want folks to get the wrong impression and newbies to the Hole may jump in and start a flame war over something that we all do in a light-hearted manner normally.
Of course, by no means does this indicate submission on either side. Let's call it a truce for a bit. :)
Voyager isn't taking over the next Star Trek movie are they? I really don't want Nemesis to be the last TNG movie...
Where is everybody? Over at FR's Finest?
