The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I am all for it.... who will donate a laptop to me for the cause, hehe.

Yes, he said they found the boat coming down the river. Dialogue pretty much like the book. Although, I myself did not like what they did with Faramir at all, I did hear him get that part right. Did he, now?
I guess we all missed it.
But I'll listen for it when I see it again today. :-)
As with so much of the movie, there was so much to absorb that it's difficult to take it all in at times.

"Unearned triumphalism" really now.
There's nothing unearned about it.
Name another human civilization as successful as ours.
His guilt is getting the better of him - better ship him off to the New York Times.
To: Wordsmith
Never mind that - i didn't read that correctly.
Send the first idiot to the Times.

I'm sure he'll be watching with you. Sharing something that was so well loved by your husband can only make the movies much more special on a personal level. I first read the LOTR when I was in 8th grade (in 1968). Like your husband did with you and your daughter, I shared it with my husband and son. Go tonight and enjoy!

Ok, Steve is gone. Here is a photo of me and JameRetief with our Merry and Pippin busts:

Gosh, do I need to go see the movie again and see if I hallucinated too? I really didn't like the Faramir thing. But, I do remember him telling Frodo something about finding his body floating in the river in a boat or something. What I remember was indeed glossed over quickly in verbage and I might have made more of a passing remark than was there. But, I do seem to remember the reference.
Of couse I'm going on 29 hours without sleep now. I thought I quit this deal at least 10 years ago. Maybe the book is fading into the movie for me by now.

2. Who was supposed to play Aragorn, but it didn't work out? I said "Russell Crowe" I still don't know the answer. Stuart Townsend.
He lasted two weeks.
You can see him in the awful "Queen of the Damned" playing Lestat.

"
I came under conviction that it was a form of employee theft, cheating my employer, and I am much more productive and happy with my job when I don't allow the FR addiction into the workplace."
It's funny you said that. I've been thinking the same thing lately. I try to work while reading the posts, but I always end up NOT working and just reading (and posting)! I'm going to do the FReeper thing on my lunch break from now on.
To: Wneighbor
Okay, I'll put on another pot of COFFEE.
And I even have some Bailey's to put in it. :)
To: sneakers
I have to agree with you both. That probably has a lot to do with why I only lurk most of the time. What little time I do have is just spent reading other folks posts.
However, this week, I have zero to do here. I am so caught up. and my students are all taking their midterms. So, I'm just freeping away.
Alas, I don't have a laptop and will be going home for Christmas. When I get back, work schedule will be back to normal and you can probably forget me again until another bubble in time when I can be a part of things.
To: ksen
Then we can synchronize a time to go to the theatre and have a "chat/view" from there. And stock up on laptop batteries. :)
To: Wordsmith
You're right Word, the first guy was an idiot. I liked Dreher's review though.

he he he. I need to coffee. I'm actually drinking my bosses 3 day old re-warmed coffee. My daughter doesn't get out of school today until 1:05 so have to stay awake until I get her home.
To: ksen
the only real complaint I have is that I cannot see Return of the King RIGHT NOW.I imagine that will be the biggest complaint from all of us.
So when are you going to see it again?
In about 90 minutes, as a matter of fact. I imagine I will see it again with the geeks "back home" when I go home for the holidays.
It will have to do until the Extended Edition DVD comes out...which in turn will have to do until ROTK comes out.
Makes me wish PJ had gone with the original plan of releasing them 6 months aprt instead of one year.

About the Freeping at work....I usually freep during "dead times'. I mean....samples aren't going to thaw, reactions are not going to happen any faster with me sitting there staring at them.

"All that is gold does not glitter;
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong doesn not wither;
Deep roots are not touched by the frost."
That was on our monthly newsletter that I just got this morning.
