The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

My whole entire family is going through epiphany-cravings / change-your-life-NOW emotions lately.
We've all decided we want to leave Miami, we've all decided we want to stay in Florida, but we can't decide where in Florida to go to!
It's down to four places...
Suburbs of Orlando
Suburbs of Melbourne
Fort Myers area
Tampa / St. Pete / Clearwater area
2 on the East coast and 2 on the West! LOL!!!

I have somewhat competing desires in a new job.... Part of me could want to get a job that pays what I am making now and would be a 'real job' and part of me would like to do just something fun and brainless (I just don't have career aspirations at this point).... the casino job would be one of those... or get a pretty low-stress job at a place that would interest me, like a vet clinic or the tack shop or the feed store (mmmmm.... shopping cowboys)
I think by continuing to recieve a stipend from the existing job I could afford to take a position that doesn't pay much and break close enough to even. I am overpaid now, and my lifestyle is not that expensive really, and could be made less so. Break it down, I have to be able to afford rent, horse and dog food/veterinary, and cable internet. Everything else is icing.
I think I can pay for the entmoot trip out of my tax return, which is still sitting here uncashed.

I know a place for rent at Melbourne.... Right on the beach and the rent is not too bad if you split it 11 ways.

Well, nix the Border's idea! They're not sure they'll have any in reserve from their pre-orders. I called Wal-Mart and they're getting some, and I'm sure the local 'Tarzhay' will have some as well. We'll go there first, then scoot across the road to the Wally World!
To: HairOfTheDog
LOL!! It's a little too much on my salary! And I just can't work 11 jobs!

And I just can't work 11 jobs! You wouldn't need to! - I will work one, or maybe two of them, we just need 9 others...
It'll be kindof a conservative commune.

Tampa/St. Pete would be nice, although there are a lot of retirees out that way. The Gulf coast has a very nice beach.
I'm partial to you guys moving to Melbourne, but I'm partisan. ;^)

We Baptists invented the word "partisan." We invented polemics too. ;^)

Just got back from the first trip to the Bixby arena with Rusty, to start working on barrels. We worked for about 1 hr. 20 min. Did leads, diagonials, and walked the pattern a few times. It was fun.
The towns baseball fields are right next to the arena, there were a few boys over there batting. Their balls were coming all the way over to the arena. I almost left. I wasn't realy worried about being hit with one as much as one spooking my horse. His first time there and everything. But I stuck it out, and we made it fine. He works off my legs so well, I work on that alot on trails. I actually walked the pattern a few times with no reins. If I can get use to the speed I think he will make a good barrel horse. Although we are not going to worry about speed for awhile.
