The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I think the army needs to send my son-in-law back here from Iraq so he can fix this darned thing for me. I'll cook him a good homecooked feast while he works, let him have a nice shower, meal and rest and then they can send him back.

I did not know you were looking for new work. Well, I don't know what you do. But, I thought you liked it. Is this a new thing or did I miss something while I was away last week?

Plumbers should be skinny. It should go along with the job. They should also be very delicate about asking if they can feed your horse to a tiger.

They should also be very delicate about asking if they can feed your horse to a tiger. IMO - they should just NOT ask that.

I still haven't gotten that mower blade off yet. I'd have just bought myself a new mower by now...

I e-mailed Customer Service at Books a Million, and they have shipped the book. Unfortunately, since we don't get UPS delivery on Saturday, we have to wait until Monday. I'm seriesly thinking of going ahead to Borders on Sat. to get a copy so that Clare and Joseph can each have one.
Joseph will be gone this weekend on a Boy Scout campout, so he wouldn't be able to start reading until Sunday afternoon anyway. I think Joseph is on his third reading of the series. Hey, he's reading, that's why I'm thrilled!

I did not know you were looking for new work. Well, I don't know what you do. But, I thought you liked it.I need to.... The need on my current job is really only a few hours per week, and I do not have the interest in continuing to promote it or try to fund it as full time. I am pretty burned out on it honestly, but I believe in the program if it were lean and super efficient, and that means me living on something else and volunteering or receiving a small stipend to continue. I am willing to continue to do the job, but need to get out of the house once in awhile. I am very much becoming a hermit.

I would love to work the Craps tables. Or perhaps Blackjack for a slower pace.

I'm thinking it's a DVD we'll want to own.Oh yeah!! We got it for SSQ for last Father's Day.

I am very much becoming a hermit. There are those of us who deeply envy you.
Well, maybe not forever, but for several months I know it would be wonderful at least.

Cheap! Cheap!

Is there a hermit job opening up?
To: Wneighbor
Been doing this for a couple years now.... If I had kids, or even a significant other for occasional interaction, it would be ideal... but not alone.

I know of a job. 10 or 20 hours a week. If you know Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier or Flash. Pay's lousy. You'd have to move to near Mordor.

See 45909. Hair wants to get out of the Hermit business. I think she's trying to become more social. Meet people.

Well, I don't particularly know the skills needed, and moving to Mordor for a part time job at lousy pay is not exactly appealing, but I will check back when I am hungrier!

Yes, I really do know. Even staying home with kids for 5 years and being several miles from the nearest town got to me after a while. It was really a good life - but sometimes not having another human being (Jill was in school, Myranda was a baby) to talk with for miles was pretty rotten.
