Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

You know, when I was in high school...lots of guys had pickups with their hunting shotguns in the back. Nobody thought anything of it back then.
I don't want a fancy car. The minivan I have now is too fancy for my taste and every time I knock over a soda in it, I cringe. I wish I had something I could just hose out!

Fear and Loathing, eh? Hmmm, have to check that out sometime. At least now I have an idea of what it's like to outsiders when my siblings and I start reciting movie lines (usually Monty Python or the old Disney animateds). ;-P
Anywho, managed to get off work a little early tonight, but I'm pretty bushed and need to hit the hay. I had to get up early to go to the dentist. Clean bill of health, though. Woohoo!

Morning All; long day yesterday, tried to catch up but then hit the "fear & loathing posts", when they started to make sense I figured it was time to hit the hay.
It was really good to see the "Ozark Mountain Highroad" built from Route 65 to Route 76; about one third of its total length. It was designed to interstate standards but the design team was allowed to separate the north bound and south bound lanes with a wide natural rock and forest median. Bridges literally leap across the hollows and road curves to hug the hills, lots more details but you got to see it for yourself, it's route 465 north of Branson, MO. Won an Environmental Design award from FHWA in 1995. That's a roadway to be proud of.
OT: great shot of Frodo and driveway log, I'd bet that "sting" would make short work of it.
RMD: thanks for breakfast, that looked great
G'nad: grapes too, quite a nice homestead you got going, it's going to look like Bag End in no time. Found any shed antlers yet?
WN: the hot water heater sounds like us, when we moved into the house on Good Friday, 1976, the Gas Service Co. red-tagged the heater, got a new one installed within a week, but it was a chilly spring. That was a fun time, I think.
Got to shove off, we have a "moral boosting" hot dog lunch in a park this noon, (attendance is "encouraged") at Chase Park in KC. Interestingly enough, it is on a bluff overlooking the Kansas River confluence with the Missouri. Has a large statue grouping of Lewis & CLark, Sacajawea, York and Seaman, all better than life size.
So for now-must hit the trail.
