The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Not to mention that the neighbors hear the dog barking insanely at the television...

She still makes noise with that thing in her mouth, it just sounds like I am trying to muffle her for some reason.

Strange thing is, she is watching a Les Schwab tire commercial in that pic.

She had a hen who built a nest around a golf ball and has been sitting on it. So they saved some eggs and slipped them under her, hoping she would hatch them.

Geez... and I thought *I* had done some mean things in my life. I never even would have *thought* of getting some chicken to think she could hatch golf balls.

Dang, she could sit there for months... of course the *really* mean thing to do would be to sneak in and replace the golf balls with tennis balls one night...

...then the night after that replace them with them with those fringy rubber koosh-balls... then some silly putty... then a bowling ball.

That hen would be the talk of the hutch...

That is hysterical!

I loved the pics of Frodo, too! Very cleverly done!

What does she find so disturbing about tire commercials?

But I note power tools in the background of the picture!

Oh my stars! That is just why I want one of them! I don't want no silly SUV! Give me a hummer any day! Not one that's all decked out either...just a plain hummer that can run over a bad guy or drive right into his house!

It is a mystery to me.... Baseball really p*sses her off, but I think it that case it is the bats. She doesn't like people swinging weapons around.

But I note power tools in the background of the picture!

Good eye, WinMag! ;~D

For future reference:
http://blake.prohosting.com/awsm/script/fearandloathing.html

I, for one, didn't know that Terry Gilliam (of Monty Python) was involved in the production of the Fear and Loathing movie (with Bill Murray). Though the more I think about it the more it makes sense. Scary that.

Yeah, but how they feel about barbecue sauce? Does it help to get them used to it in advance? :-)

Yes, I've seen the movie. It didn't even come close to the book. It tried, I'll grant that, but there's really no way to get the whole essence of gonzo distilled into two hours of on screen madness. I don't think it can be done.

Unless Stanley Kubrick would have tried it. He's the only one that could have. But he's dead now (maybe that would help?).

My fantasy Hummer, if I hit the lottery, will have a GI camo paint job, and a dummy M60 or .50 cal on the roof. If I had a pickup truck, I'd be tempted to put a gun rack in the back window, and then a plywood silhouette, painted black, of an AK47 in the rack. I'm sure the cops could come up with creative things to charge me with.
