The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

My weed wacker that I picked up today from the shop where they fixed it, (Sears, under waranty) is not running right. I so aggravated. It runs good for a while then smoke starts pouring out of it, the engine idles down, then the smoke stops, and it runs fine again for a few seconds then smokes again.
I called Sears, took me 30 minutes to get a live body, eerrrr..., instead of a recording, he says bring it in. I'm 30 miles from there, and I HATE going to Tulsa. They are not going to like me when I get there!

just got done plowin' two acres fer a food plot... it was an old pasture that probably has never been plowed, near as I can tell...
I got an old two-disc disc-plow that came with the place... that's less than the ideal implement, (took me three hours) but what the heck... it didn't cost me nuthin'... got an old disc harrow I'll run over the plot to level it out...that'll take a while...
also put new blades, deck belt, and tension sprocket on the John Deere lawn tractor... oh... and put up two more humming bird feeders...
The missus is getting chicken salad and fried taters ready... I'm exhausted, starvin, filthy, and dehydrated... but I'm lovin' it...

...as long as you're happy.... :)

I wouldn't want to be the poor sap that's workin' at Sears when you get there...
next time, get a Stihl... trust me... they're the bomb...
To: Overtaxed
... yup...
I don't have many squirrels here... and they are very dumb... when I meet one on the lane, it tries to out run the truck goin' down the road... they seldom win...
To: PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain
They are not going to like me when I get there! If'n they are smart, they will not have *you* start it in their presence!

To: g'nad
I can see the results of my work... Some of those results are plastered on the roadway too, I hear.
I think you just lost your merit points previously earned in the hummingbird story.

All....if I've forgotten anyone.
Here are a few pictures of our friend Frodo:
Frodo was happy to stretch his legs after the trip from Baltimordor:

He looked a little stressed so I fixed him some tea:

Frodo is an ideal house guest and didn't complain when I went off to work every day. In fact, he made it a point to be helpful around the house:

And on rainy weekends we watched the races:

However, I felt he needed a change in scenery so we packed up...

... and drove to The House.

Emily, the senior most Cat of The House relaxes knowing Frodo and Sting are nearby:

To Be Continued.....

That is exactly why I love mowing and weed eating, the results are immediate:)
We have an arena that I keep disced up, but that is the only place I am allowed to drive the tractor. I always forgot that the clutch stops a tractor better then then the brakes. I crashed into Macks leased brand new Dodge Pick Up once. :(, while he was standing there hollering clutch, clutch. I was standing up on the brake, LOL, been a few years ago, we can laugh about it now.

I figgered out a way to make the Entmoot forum even more private: I created a new closed user group ("Charter Members"), made this group the moderator of the forum, and set the access to the forum to moderators only. The only downside is that any newcomers have to be manually given access by yours truly. But as long as everyone gets signed up before I go on vacation...
To: Wneighbor
I have more pictures that I have to send off. Sorry, no digital camera here. Frodo seemed to need some relaxation after Baltimordor and to rest up for NYC.

I wouldn't want to be the poor sap that's workin' at Sears when you get there... Everytime I make up my mind to be a nicer person too, have more patience.

Great job!! Looks like Frodo had a great time. I'll get these posted on my day off tomorrow.

I love the pic with the log most of all, and the one where he is folded in the car!
