Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hmmmmmm.....2JM should be at the theater now. I don't think she's going to make 19 viewings at the theater this year.

I've only seen it twice! I'm slackin' off!
To: Overtaxed
Yay I've been beaten! Finally I can tell my friends (who look at me like I'm a looney) that someone saw it more than my 15 times!
I don't know if I'll see TTT that many or not....I just play it by ear. If I'm in the mood to see it I go!

I've seen it 3 times. Maybe I'll go again this weekend.

Ruthy, can you speak Spanish?
I just met the kids at Tropical Chinese for lunch, on Bird Rd., and saw a book in the bookstore next door that said something like El Senor de los Enillos and La Tierra de Media or something. It had pictures of Aragorn and them on the cover.
I can see that Tierra de? Media is "Middle Earth" and the other phrase is "Lord of the Rings." I am sure I'm messing up this a little.
The dim sum was good, btw.

I get off at 4:00 now, too!

Wonder if they're going to do a ROTK trailer this year like they did for TTT.

Never made it to our theaters. It ended here by about the 18th of January. :-(

I liked Myst pretty well, especially the beautiful artwork and the great sound effects.
I also really liked the Victorian, exotic, Jules Verne, colonial, atmosphere that it had.
Have not been able to beat the next one, "Riven," as I got kind of bored at a certain point...or maybe am just too stupid. Plus I am now usually unable to resist being here when I am on the computer.

"Wonder if they're going to do a ROTK trailer this year like they did for TTT."Oh I'm sure they will. I don't see why they wouldn't.
They better!
To: Dawntreader
I haven't played any of the Civilization games, although I've been wanting to get Civ 3 for a while now (saving my pennies!) so I'm not sure how alike they are. I have played Alpha Centauri a lot though, which is by the same people who made Civilization (I think). AoE doesn't have the strong diplomatic aspects that the Civilization games have, I think. The computer opponents in AoE just exist to beat you up and be beaten up in turn. In the original AoE especially, if you have more than one computer opponent, they automatically team up against you, which makes it nearly impossible to beat them without planning some major defenses (like walls).

Plus I am now usually unable to resist being here when I am on the computer. It draws you too?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Hmm..ok. Yep, there's a lot of diplomatic stuff in Civ 3. Lots of treaties made and everything. I just build up my army and then break the treaties and dominate the world BWAHAHAHA
Well actually Civ 3 is a lot harder than Civ 2. Civ 2 was pretty easy on the easy setting and the easy setting on Civ 3 I'm having a tough time with!
To: Dawntreader
We'll have to make sure 2JM has plenty of medicine! LOL
To: Overtaxed
Yeah, I was addicted even before I signed up.
Am feeling somewhat bemused and flummoxed by Master Dwarf. I probably ought to look those words up and see if I'm using them right.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I think I need to stick with just ONE computer opponent until I get better. How come they all pick on ME?? Why don't they ever go beat up on each other? Stupid game! :-(
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I don't know the civilization or Alpha Centauri games. I used to really love the DOS version of Doom, but haven't given any thought to a computer game since, except Myst and its sequel.
To: RMDupree
, let's all kiss and make up. Today is not the day for infighting. Yes mom.
Still catching up on what's gone on while I taught class this morning. Hope I don't get in too much trouble for saying that.
