The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Matthew absolutely loves Roy!

I guess it's safe to say that there will be no frying pans in their future then? *grinning*

If Roy is a rooster, there will be. She's supposed to be a pullet but the people who do the sexing are only 90% accurate.

And if Roy is a meat chicken...rooster or not...we have to eat her. They are bred to outgrow their leg strength by about 3 months...their legs break from their own weight.

I don't think they would enforce the shoes thing in Frodo's case.

Well I did tell him about recycling cardboard. It made him nervous.

That long, freaky neck sure looks masculine to me, but what do I know?

I guess you'd better get new pullets before cooking up the present ones.

Hello g'nad!

I ate the last of my strawberries last evening, so now my craving will go unanswered!

the mosquitos were voracious

...and they're hydrophillic! One ended up in my sep funnel and stayed in the aqueous layer.

I think Roy is going through an awkward stage right now...half her feathers are in and half her down is gone, so she looks a wreck. Jar Jar is getting the same way, though. You just can't tell from these pictures.

Roy's feathers are tipped in red...she has some pretty feathers coming in!

I had to show my mom those pics. Do you know what kind of chickens they are? Any hints or clues from the store?

I have no clue. They are some sort of pure bred chicken, they send them in variety packages, though. You get so many of this and so many of that. The guy at the feed store didn't have any idea...only that they were female (hopefully) because of the clips on their wings.

On an off topic, I've been looking forward to that new Discovery Channel documentary "Walking With Cavemen". I am now extremely disappointed because guess who will be hosting it?

Alec Baldwin. UGH! I don't think I can sit through it if I have to see him.

I guess they didn't want us to think the cavemen had all died out...

OH! Ecurbh! I love it. And I love extra garlic and sauteed asparagus! You did great!!!

I just came back from having my friend visit for a bit. Did you take some of this to Hair or did she make it over to your place to share it with you? :-)

You are right! - That is a better picture of Roy. The other was just not a good pose for her!

Methinks the cavemen would be offended by that statement.

I'm afraid to admit that I've been sitting here listening to Japanese pop music and writing Harry Potter fanfiction. I blame it on my internet friends. I used to be a nice boring conservative girl, and then I met these online people and now... well, you guys here at the Hole are normal compared to some of these... anyway now I'm an interesting person. But I get weird looks.
