Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Why did you sleep in? :~O
I did nearly pass out in the middle of a parade in hot weather on that same trip. It was hot and we had the hottest uniforms. with these hideous black fur hats (like the Queens Guard wears in England) None of us were playing by the end of the parade, just holding the instruments up and trying to keep walking. I had no air to give and I played trumpet!

Why did you sleep in?Finnicky alarm clock that often failed to go off, parents out of town, bedroom at the back of the house (couldn't hear the telephone when the director called). Quite the confluence of circumstances, really. I have always been kind of paranoid about oversleeping since then.
Those band uniforms are not the coolest things to wear, literally. They tend to be designed more for being out on the field in Oct-Nov. You know, when your mouthpiece causes frostbite when you put it on your lips. Our uniforms had the same big fuzzy hats too, except in blue.

They got cool (looking) new uniforms the year after I graduated.

My graduation seems to have been a turning point for my school.
The year after I graduated, they moved into AAA, got new band uniforms and won the state marching band competition for the first time, AND our notoriously bad football team won the state championship as well.

And we got a new performing arts center complete with an auditorium (no more concerts in the gymn!) and a nice acoustically designed rehearsal room.
Well I'm off to bed now. Got a lot of stuff to do tomorrow.

"At that age I would have welcomed the opportunity to sneak into the "wrong" movie" To tell you the truth, when I was that age, I don't think there were any "wrong" movies yet. The nearest movie theater was 16 miles from the house anyway. There were only 4 (singles!) within driving distance at all.

Kevin that's great. Best way for her to find out if she really does like horses. If she can handle the work that goes with them, then you should get her one:)I joke around with her that I'm betting after she shovels her first load of horse poop that she says, "I think I want a puppy instead." ;^)
I'd love to be able to get her a horse, but there really isn't too much room on our 1/4 acre lot for a horse.

hehehe... five Preciouses in a row would indeed be a feat!I have no idea what word would be appropriate for it though.
I was thinking maybe "Heroic Beyond Measure." Then you could add a little "HBM" to your tag line.
