Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I got home from church just in time to see a Ken Schrader car bash. Close to the first yippee!!!!
< momentary gripe > howcome when the ladies at church wanted me to go on a ladies retreat it was "everybody bring your favorite salad. we're just going to eat all kinds of salads" And now the men are having a retreat and they are calling it "Steak Out" They are all bringing red meat for the grille and eating it for 2 days! It's just not fair. < /gripe>
Nice flame shot on the car crash BTW. Get that in a still and you can alternate it with the forest fire photo!

Maybe you should bring a steak as a side dish. :)

Garlic doesn't keep off witches. Garlic keeps off vampires, and wolfsbane (aconite) keeps away werewolves, and holly keeps away nasty critters generally. Sometimes witches melt if you get 'em wet, but I once read a story with wizards that would melt with a bucket of soapy lemon-scented water.
Iron is a good choice for keeping away magic, and so are certain kinds of songs but I don't know which. Silver's good for werewolves and if it's a silver cross it's effective against vampires also.
Wow! I know too much about things that don't exist, don't I?

Garlic's good for skeeters too.

Maybe you should bring a steak as a side dish. :) I didn't bother to go. And when I got all the reports of reasons I should have went, I was just as glad I didn't go. I just don't quite fit in with that crowd.
Now, this men's thing. It sounds like they're going to have fun. But, then, I wouldn't quite fit in at that one either. ha!

Whoa! Good job! Did you capture that from video or already find the still?

Yes, but if you rub garlic on your skin I'd think people would avoid you, not just skeeters.

Just eat a lot of garlic.
I'd think people would avoid you,
Another benefit. :)
To: Overtaxed
I was just wondering if you got it off video because I liked the shot just before it spun out into the grass. If you had done it yourself I was going to bribe you with virtual chocolate to get one a few frames earlier! ha ha ha

I *love* garlic. But if I eat more than one slice of garlic bread my breath is so bad no one will be around me for two days. It's a curse. Unless I become a vampire hunter, in which case, it'll be a blessing.

I need to start doing that before church. I'm just not as much into hugging as a lot of people like to be.

I've got a video card that claims to do that. Maybe I should try to get it working. :)

Unless I become a vampire hunter, in which case, it'll be a blessing. Or if you are as fond of being close to other people as I have become, you just do it for social habit. I am becoming very bad. I am becoming a hermit. And I think I like it.

My great-grandmother used to eat raw cloves....by themselves.
