The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Excercise would, but I can't FReep when I'm excercising...

The snooty fitness center near us has computer screens on the lifecycles. You can surf while you exercise.

Ditto on the medicines. But, I drink herbal teas daily according to what seems to be the need. Or the preventative need.

So where are you on this cholesterol thing? I never gave it a single thought until that doctor up here did that. I mostly just ignor it because it was just a required work physical and I don't know the guy and he sure didn't know me... but, I keep wondering.

Thing about the grama situation. People in my family live to be very very old. Especially the women. Grama is way to young to have gone downhill yet. Her mother and aunts that I remember were still going very very strong at this age. And Grama was too till she got sent to this "diagnostic center." I don't want to sound psycho but IMO they have completely ravaged her body. Mostly it's drugs, but also with several surgeries in the last 3 years. And I question those.

When Jr. was little, he had a sleeper that said "Daddy's little workout..."

Sounds like to me it's still true. Now he's just working you out in the patience area instead of the physical area!

If what you're doing is working, don't change it! Atkins does take some willpower, and knowing how many carbs you can have, and the carbless ice cream and chocolate is of course much more expensive. But it's the only diet I could see being on.

I hope we get a chance to watch Greek Wedding tonight...

This is good in case you get sunburned:

I'm not on Atkins. But, being allergic to wheat products and potatoes certainly gives me some of the benefits you get on the program. And it doesn't hurt that I don't like cake and cookies.

if it weren't for pie, chocolate and ice cream I'd probably be a freakin' healthy food junkie.

I thought b-i-l was supposed to be at your house at 11.

Sorry, when I posted, he said he'd be there within the hour. And he was. Sorry if I made it sound confusing.

I'm assuming the Reagan was there. I couldn't see well enough to read numbers (which I'd have to look up). But it's being commissioned there in July.

Well, I need to work at it a little more. We got off track (and lost the recipe cards), so I'm going from what I have in the book and not getting much variety.

So where are you on this cholesterol thing?

Some tests come out under 200 and some a little over. Only once did a "health care professional" express any concern about it. I just tell them I want to go out with one huge heart attack. (No really....it beats nursing home or chemo.)

My grandmother was doing great...went anywhere she wanted, got to work in her yard, etc., until she fell and broke her hip. Did I mention that I hate hospitals? :)

I suppose I should do the tea thing every day. I like green tea with ginger. Sometimes I make lemon balm, mint, and/or catnip tea. That catnip tea really puts me to sleep, though. Oh...BTW, I don't think mosquitoes like pineapple. :)

I need to run too. Need to get Luke bathed and into bed. Then I might get to fix and eat some dinner and watch either Trading Spaces or Black Hawk Down.

Depends on whether I want mindless or intense. I think mindless may win out...
