The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I spent high school summers there working for my grandpa. Ugh. AZ summers were not meant for working. That's why Mexicans invented siestas. My father muses before every afternoon nap that 30 million Mexicans can't be wrong... *zzzzzzz*

I'll second the praise for good Dr. Atkins! His diet's been sooo easy for me, and so effective! Mm, last night I had a beef stir fry with peppers, and a bowl of low-carb ice cream. I am having some problems with vitamin deficiencies, so I have to take vitamins. Last night I had these horrible charliehorses at four in the morning. Ugh.

Oooooooh I had leg cramps too. Very very uncomfortable. It's cause you are loosing so much water and electrolytes and your body hasn't adjusted. Drink water and take some calcium supplements. I found one at Walmart that has calcium, magnesium (iirc) and zinc.
Also, I'd look into using sea salt on your foods. It's got the ions the body needs in usable form: sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, zinc, etc. Better than a supplement and just as good as Gatorade. Tastes good, too. There's lots of different kinds but if you're in to the French boycott, don't buy 'Celtic Sea' salt- it's harvested in France. The salt from Hawaii is pretty- pink due to the iron from the volcanic rocks. The salt from Maine is pure white and sparkley. There's a mine in UT that sells salt from a Mesozoic-aged seabed under the name RealSalt. It varies in color from clear to bloodred. Mostly peachy-beige, though. I have some in a pretty salt mill- looks very gourmet.

"RealSalt" rocks and in a grinder. I'm hooked.

I'll keep that in mind, though I don't really salt my food. The vitamin thing, though, is a really good idea.
A little note. I just downloaded a spyware stopper called SpyBot and it found some things, including an instance of Gator, that Adaware had missed. You guys might think of checking it out.

I never get a chance to come in here on the weekends, but I just had to get online today since I'm over at my MIL house and they have DSL here! YIPPEE!!
I finally got the see the Gollum acceptance speech at the MTV awards. I laughed in spite of myself. Way over the top!
I'm going to get in my swimsuit and try to swim a bit while the sun is still shining. How come the lousy weather ALWAYS hangs around on the weekends?

I know! We have had one nice day in about three weeks, and that was yesterday. Tomorrow is supposed to be mildly nice. And we haven't reached 80 degrees yet this year.

OH! Congratulations on your trip to see your grandma. And on getting to go to AZ!! (i love that state!)
It's finally sunny in north Texas/outskirts of Mordor today. And warm enough to open 3 windows after my shower!

It's weird, but I've had less interest in carbs lately. Having carb-free chocolate and ice cream helps, but more for sweetness... while I do crave the occasional chip, I haven't wanted a sandwich, or a tortilla, for ages.
