The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Evening. I am tired and the truck still isn't unloaded.... catching a buzz in the afternoon does not make one very productive in the evening!

I know what you mean.

I made the mistake of drinking those 2 glasses of wine a couple weeks back, remember? Screwed me up for 36 hours!! I was useless to everyone!

Here's a completely unfounded theory out of my own twisted imagination...

What if they release ROTK in two parts, each 2-2 1/2 hours long? Part 1 in December, Part 2 in March?

Ummmmm.... I don't think they would do that, I think that would mess up a lot of deals. These schedules are important to people I think.

I merely speculate! :)

PJ may be unwilling to release a version of ROTK that comes in at less than 4 hours... and the studios may have a problem with that long of a running time, too.

That sure will screw up Entmoot!

Yowza! There is more than enough material to support that approach (like SW Empire and Jedi) but by now the rabid fans would tear the producers limb from limb.

With 42,000 posts I havent been able to tell: any theories on what happens after ROTK? The Silmarillian? BOLT? Would take some work, but can you imagine how lush the early creation work would be?

Hi freedumb!

PJ has said he doesn't intend to work on The Hobbit or anything else Middle Earth, at least not anytime soon.

He plans on re-re-re-doing King Kong of all things!

I'm still holding out hope that he'll change his mind or that he is teasing us Tolkien fans mercilessly.

I think it would be kind of cool... just as you get tired of seeing ROTK Part 1 over and over in the theater, along comes Part 2!

There is some speculation, based on suggestions from Ian McKellan, about PJ making either a theatrical release or a TV mini-series of The Hobbit. But he is apparently signed up to direct a remake of King Kong as his next immediate project.

Do we need a reason?

Well... not for ourselves, no. But it would be something we could tell curious visitors.
