Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I am going to have to check those out.
It was almost comical this morning when I filled up the feed pan. It's so cute to watch them scratch, but there was feed flying all over the place. That's probably why those chicken feeds have tops with the openings that they can just put their heads in.
This is the biggest batch I have hatched and they went thru that pan of feed in about 10 minutes, but of course most of it was wasted. Wasn't that big a deal with smaller batches. But with this many it could be a problem.

So. If I went out and bought myself a new computer game this weekend, what would you suggest? I've got Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, but I'm kinda tired of it.
I've not done much role playing, etc. But used to spend hours playing "Rogue" in DOS....(yes, I am most old)
(other, non-pinged, gamers opinions also welcome)

Well, I like Unreal Tournament for pure sport...
I am off for awhile on necessary errands.... see ya all in awhile!

I'm thinking of getting one of these and attaching it to the tractor...then when we move it, we can just unhook to hose (if needed) and move it, then reconnect.
http://www.eggcartons.com/item210.htm It says it's for baby chicks but I think it would do ok for just two (or so) chickens.

But used to spend hours playing "Rogue" in DOS....(yes, I am most old) Umm...heh...should I admit I have a "Nethack" game (very like Rogue) going right now? (It's kinda slow here...and that's about the only game I play...)

My current favorite game is
Age of Kings. It's basically, build a town, build an army, conquer your enemies before they conquer you.
My Josh and Jacob love that game. They'd play it for hours if I let 'em.

Is that the one y'all were playin' (or trying to) together a couple of months ago?

I thought Roy had a wound on her neck, I felt a rough spot...it was just her feathers growing in there! Ha!

The yellow chicks in my batch, they all almost have all their wing feathers already. They are really alot bigger then the black ones too. I can almost see a change in them from morning to afternoon to evening, they are growing so fast. The little black one is still the runt but he is doing fine.

I don't know if they will make it in that dog crate for 2weeks. This is what 3-4 days. Maybe it's just because there is so many of them.

Have you heard from Lisa, I was wondering if she got started yet. If she had trouble getting the temprature regulated. It took me awhile the first time.

I used to like the DOS version of Doom, I think it may still be loaded into the computer.
Grand Theft Auto is pretty good, rather humorous. Not really fit for younger kids though.

Did anyone here beat Riven?

In three weeks you're getting some more! LOL
To: PayNoAttentionManBehindCurtain
I emailed her earlier but haven't heard back.
To: Sam Cree
I did a few years ago.

So did you/you all think the instructions were clear enough? The hardest part was getting the temp on the incubator to regulate the first time, but I think it is because we keep the house really cool, and at night turn all heat off. This batch I hardly had to adjust it at all. I don't think she will have problems, but I was wondering.

In three wks, no matter what these guys are going to the water trough out side:), then the crate will be free for the new ones.
I don't mind at all bringing them home as soon as they hatch, but that was something else I wondered about, how long she might want to keep them? Any clues?

I called her right after I dropped it off and reminded her to turn it on and regulate it for a couple of hours before starting. I'll let you now if I hear anything, but I suspect no news is good news!
I wish you could have seen those delighted kids! Even the big kids were so excited.
