The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

BTW, I am using a pie pan to feed them in now. 30 chicks scratching in a pie pan wastes tons of feed.
Would the feeder be better?

I believe you are correct in saying that quitting smoking won't be successful until you are series about it, that's how it was for me. But once you do become serious, quitting for real is inevitable.
Both my parents died of cancer in their 60's, Dad was only 62. I believe they'd both be here now, if they hadn't smoked.

Had a yummy lunch: Grilled beef kabobs with peppers, onions, and baby portabello mushrooms, and basted with garlic butter.
Off to work now. Hopefully I can go home early again tonight. This is my 8th day in a row, due to a training class, so I am ready for a couple days off.
Later, all!

Your mom is attractive too!

Is your waterer (is there such a word:), made for chickens, or something you concocted. I am using a pie pan for that too. It does get nasty pretty quick.

I would think so! They make bigger ones too, and red plastic ones...
To: RMDupree
Cool Ruthy! She is such a pretty girl!

My FIL died from emphysema. He smoked until the day he left us.
That's the horror of addiction. You see the damage it does, but you still can't let it go. *sigh*

Tell her congrats! I was tempted to e-mail her myself, but don't want her to freak out when she gets an e-mail from a complete stranger. ;-)
She's beautiful, too!
To: ecurbh
See you later, ecurbh!
MMMMMMMMMMMMM..beef kabobs...and MUSHROOMS!

I use a galvanised metal dish that screws onto a standard quart jar (a mayo jar would probably work). You just fill the jar up with water, screw on the metal dish and flip it over. it only puts a little water in the bottom.
You can get them in plastic too...for like a buck.

HA! Don't worry. She knows all about my Hobbit Hole friends. That's why she considers me odd. :)

Sounds like something that would taste good poured over ice cream!LOL!
To: HairOfTheDog
Lemme tell you how jealous I am of her!
She's a skinny thing, weighs maybe 102 pounds at most, with that long perfect hair and lovely smile. If she wasn't my sister, I'd call her a snob! *MEOW!*

know what you mean about not
wanting to quit. I'm in the same boat.
need to cut down myself, but with all the stress at work, it's awful nice to go outside and "check the weather" from time to time.
To: libarian
I hear ya!
My boss smokes, my mom smokes, my sister Kelly smokes, my best friend Alicia smokes, my MIL smokes, etc.
It's tough to quit under the best of circumstances, but nigh on impossible when everyone around you is puffing away in bliss!

See, here is a 12" feeder...this is what I would get if I were you...

This is the plastic waterer I was telling you about, except at Atwoods you can get just the red base for cheep. Mine is the same thing except it's a metal base and I use my own canning jar for the water. I think I spent around $3.50 for it.
