Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Corin! - There is nothing on the road ahead. I think you over-exercised!
To: Sam Cree
Yes, thinner. G'nite, Corin. g'nite Sam.
Does this post make my butt look big?
To: HairOfTheDog
There is nothing on the road ahead. I think you over-exercised! Follow the link back (see what I was responding to). Then read it outloud...
"What's that in the road? A head?"
Works better when you can hear it.
To: Corin Stormhands
Whew! LOL! - You were waaaaay over my head there Corin!
To: HairOfTheDog
Like I said, it works better in person.
To: Corin Stormhands
So what ya think about the issue? - Would you let Jr. put that head in a PPT presentation for school? Sam says yes, I think I might too. I would assume it is at least relevant to some kind of Poli-Sci or Social Studies class, and not art or something. But it is ghoulish!
To: HairOfTheDog; Sam Cree
I dunno if I'd want him using that pic or not (I didn't click the link).
But certainly we've seen the pictures from the concentration camps and from the carnage in Vietnam. How much do we shelter them?
And perhaps, if the "liberal" teacher was siding or defending the suicide bombers, I'd include it indeed.
But I couldn't even get him to wear his "First Iraq. Then France" button to French class. (it's not like it could hurt his grade)

Doesn't 41,000 posts make this a web site of its own and not a thread?
Wow, you ME'rs are intense.
To: freedumb2003
It'll be 42,000 sometime tomorrow...
To: freedumb2003; HairOfTheDog
Wow, you ME'rs are intense. Ha! This is our THIRD thread!
To: freedumb2003
We just forgot to go home is all!
Welcome to our little thread!
To: HairOfTheDog
g'nite. See you tomorrow.
To: Corin Stormhands
Ever thought about a life? I hear tell you can rent one in this world if you can save up enough.
I read all of Tolkein, from TBOLT (twice! Tough row to hoe) to the Silmarillion and I used to write Elphin from memory but it never even occurred to me to actually spend my life in ME. But maybe you know something I don't.
To: Corin Stormhands
g'nite.
To: freedumb2003
Well, if you read back a bit before opening your trap, you would find that we all have quite interesting lives, and are very good friends. We aren't likely to leave just because you came in and said something rude.

Calm down -- jeeze! I was just having some fun at the incredible length of your thread.
Wow -- if I could remember my elvin, I would say something like "your silver is tarnished and its shine reflects badly" but, of course, I forgot it all.
To: 2Jedismom
Well good. Hope it is as fun and exciting as they think it will be. Turning eggs 3 x a day can be as exciting as, well, as watching paint dry:)

True, when I was 14, (1963, Ack!) we were shown holocaust pictures in high school, I believe it was thought important that us kids knew the horror that had happened.
Good night, All.
To: HairOfTheDog
You know, if we average 500 posts/day, we should reach 60,000 in 37 days.
Just thought I'd mention it, not sure why.
To: HairOfTheDog; g'nad
Actually, at least around here, I don't know if there are different kinds, but cooperhead and rattle snakes very rarely kill you. They will/can make you very sick. The lady that baby sat my son when he was little got bit 3 times one time by a copper head. The doctors said she would not die and they even reccommed that she hold off taking the antitoxin because sometime the side effects of that were worse then the bite itself. She never did take anything just stayed in the hospital a few days for them to monitor her. Her leg stayed swelled up for about a yr. But she said she never really felt that sick, but she was a tuff ole gal:)
