Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I always buy the Original, IMO, it's about like a mild salsa. I have heard the hot is really hot.

Okay. I can play it on the C whistle and I only have to half-hole one note....well one note three times.

You know, Corin, Calvinist jokes aren't often funny... because the punch line's already been predestined...

OK so I am goofin' off today.
OK so who are the graphic artists in here who want to take on something?
I thought it might be cute to incorporate a little map in the Flat Frodo journey.... that indicates where he has been.
And I thought it would be good to incorporate a little Middle Earth 'feel' to the map.
So a quick search found this map to start with:

To which I added just a couple of middle earth topographical elements: (I think the river is too bright a blue, but you get the idea)

What do you think of the idea? AND
How do we find cool "X marks the spot" graphics to mark where he has been? One little one I was considering is the green jewel there above the map, but I was hoping for one that stands out even more.
And.... Is there anyone who wants to add more elements? - I have only very basic skill.... I would be happy if there is someone who could do a more professional job, either starting with this one (I can email the more high-res-version..... york limits size) or starting from scratch with even better art.
I stole the elements I used from this map: Annals of Arda, Gondor

(Better river?)

You have kind of flooded Lake Pontchartrain.
Cute map, though.

Heh..... ooops! I don't know where that is! See? - I need help.
I have never been south of the Mason/Dixon line, and I don't know where the river at the Texoma border starts either.
IT WAS JUST A TEST of the idea! ;~D

No, it is a cool map, the mountains look very Tolkienesque.
Ponchartrain is the lake in Louisiana, right next to New Orleans, where a fork from the Mississippi goes. Funny, when you drive accross it, Lake Ponchartrain doesn't seem all that big, yet it is always apparent on maps of the U.S.
N.O. is a beautiful and fun, if somewhat filthy and corrupt, city, btw.
I was just thinking how nice this whole Hobbit Hole thing has been, and is.

Well, I ran the Rocky Mountains through all of Utah too, so there isn't room for Salt Lake either.
