The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Just the melody though, right?

I think she's looking for a fairly full arrangement...flute / violin and piano or something. I don't remember what instruments were even used originally, though!

I think the midi I was listening to had more than one part. I'll see what comes out when I push the buttons.

It's good to leave the dark confines of the mines for a while and walk about the sunshine of the Shire. There's something shiny up ahead that ought to cheer you up!

Well, I'm cheery enough. Specially 'cause I've made a couple of political contacts today. They're long term possibilities, but something to look forward to.

But I just found out about a project that dealt with something that is specifically in my job description (like I'm in charge of it for the whole organization). Someone in the bosses' office assigned it out to another division.

I just asked the boss (via email, since that's how I learned of the project) if there was a particular reason I was bypassed.

Unless it was actually your boss that did it, I'd chalk it up to a mistake made by a staffer.

Or maybe they just want to give you a break and let a plebian deal with the project. :)

Forever the optimist,
Ruthy

I hate it when that happens. Then if they give you a reasonable explanation you always still have to wonder howcome you didn't get it. Was that the real reason? And then sometimes the reason just flat ticks you off.

I'll say!

Now you need to get DSL at home so you can hang out here without fear of missing Myranda's calls!

Seeing these pictures of you closer up, you remind me of my ex s-i-l, who I dearly love (much more than my jerk brother). She even has the same name as you!

Some things like this are getting too scary. Girl cousin reunion is going to be in Mississippi - right? Gee, maybe one of these years I can come to girl cousin reunion Suzi!!! And pretend I fit in!

Well, Myranda knows how to get to the Hobbit Hole. I told her before she left for Germany to be sure and post if she runs upon a time when she can't get me on the phone. (After all, I'm here more than anywhere usually.) But, yesterday it was Jill wanting to talk and she didn't tell Myranda she wanted to talk so she didn't get through!

They are in the same house this month. I thought the information would get passed along. (reminder to self: don't think)

Heh...three of my brothers shared an apartment (down to two now). I knew more of their schedules than THEY did, living in the same place. I used to get calls from one or the other asking if I knew where people were!

No. It was not a mistake. There are three possible culprits. The boss, my direct supervisor and the one who wants to be my direct supervisor - he handed out the assignment.

I can't 'splain too much on the live thread (I will if we meet in chat). But this particular area is written in MY job description and my yearly review reflects what I've done in this area.

And what really pi$$e$ me off, is that for the last four years, I've suggested that it should come out of my job description since it is handled individually by each division.

But still, at the end of the year, if it sux, I get the blame.

In related news, Jr. told his mom this afternoon that he does NOT want to do marching band, he wants to play football...

LOL!

I don't doubt for a second that if she was looking for you, she'd post in here. :)

Here's the idea I had: maybe we could put together a mailing list, for starters. Then I think maybe we should each pick several tunes, maybe three or four each depending on how many musicians wanna be part of this.

Okay, are ya'll taking requests? I think you should learn Freebird.

Grrrr....office politics sux.

Sounds like they want to do it THEIR way, but keep you "in charge" in case it goes terribly wrong. Geesh!

After thinking about it, even though Jill knows about the Hobbit Hole, the mind-picture I get of Myranda getting on line and showing us to Jill is a hoot! I wish I could be a fly on the wall for that.
