Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Yes, Jill said just before Tom left he signed her up for a new long distance service that has extremely cheap rates so she can call home more. But they didn't realize that with this service there is an automatic voice mail if the line is busy. And that voice mail is in German and Jill can't figure out what it says or figure out how to pick up the voice mail or how to talk to the customer service people. Her friend that does speak German has been pretty busy helping out a lot of the families on base lately and Jill hasn't had a chance to get her help to change the message and read the instructions on how to pick up the messages!

LOL.
The best (and only) way to catch chickens is when they are roosting. Once they have gone to roost you just go up and grab their legs, they all start squawking but stay on the roost.

I'm hoping to train our two to come for a treat. It's working so far, I'm training them with mealworms...I put my hand down with the mealworm and say "Here chicky chicky chicky" and they come running!

BTW, all chicks, 31, doing well. Even the two I helped. You can tell one of them is a bit behind the others, smaller, sleeps more, but still seems to be doing OK. I worry more about him getting trampled on now then being sick. The others who are getting bigger everytime I look at them just run over the top of him because he seems to like to sleep in the feed pan.

LOL.
I don't know how you are with leftovers, but chickens will eat anything. My problem is the dogs. But I had a friend who gave all her table scraps to her chickens.
Didn't know if you knew that.
