Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I went to France during the early 80s. Paris. The lady in a cafe there called me the b-word when I asked for some milk in front of a bunch of other customers, who got quite a kick out of it.
Now I hear there is an explosion in Paris...

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!!
To: 2Jedismom
Now I hear there is an explosion in Paris... Yeah, I saw that. I'm following that thread.
Much as I dislike France's attitude during the past few months, I have to say I didn't have a bad experience with it when I visited. I think maybe it's the exception rather than the rule, but everyone was pretty nice to us the two times I visited Paris, and in southern France when we were there.
I guess I wuz lucky!
To: Corin Stormhands
Good morning Corin! Don't know if I am up for any fighting yet 'cuz I haven't had any coffee!
To: HairOfTheDog
Hair; hmmmm. coffeeee. Leaving directly for meeting, straight from home w/o going to the office, yippeee.
Samantha had a long morning walk, busted a couple of bunnies, she has quite a nose with great form when she goes on point.
Off to the 'the dark lands'.
To: osagebowman
Oooh - careful in the dark lands! Stay off the road, travel only by day!

Hey, I got a letter a while back from the chaplain...an email...no big deal but he mentioned that some Little Debbie items I sent were a hit and he said "Paratroopers love Little Debbie!"
Now I thought that this was so funny that I figured Little Debbie company might like to hear it, so I wrote them and told them about it.
This is what I wrote:
Hello! I have been sending care packages to a chaplain with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan for the last several months, who distributes the items to his soldiers. With monetary donations from others, I have been able to purchase enough items to fill about 30 boxes with hygiene items, movies and games and treats. We send a lot of treats because that goes over really well (needless to say!) Frequently the treats are Little Debbie items, because they are reasonably priced (which means I can get more for my money) and they are "classics", it's a pretty safe bet to send them, they won't be wasted. Not long ago, the chaplain wrote me and said that he had received a bunch of my care packages and this is what he had to say...
"The Little Debbie cakes have only been out for about 3 hours and they are just about wiped out. Paratroopers love Little Debbie!"
Now every time I go by the Little Debbie display at the store, my kids chime "Paratroopers love Little Debbie!" and we all think fondly of our troops in Afghanistan.
I have been chuckling about this ever since and thought I would share it with you.
Sincerely,
Now, wouldn't it be nice if they offered to send some items to our guys? I didn't ask...I am shy about doing that...
To: 2Jedismom
heh.... No - you asked! - In just the right way!
To: HairOfTheDog
You think? ;~D
It really is rather funny.

Don't know if I am up for any fighting yet 'cuz I haven't had any coffee! Well, I've kicked up a little dust on a Disney thread. Not interested in making a day of it tho.
To: Wneighbor

Hey all, I'm about to go into class for the morning. Just in case - I explained to Jill from now on how she can find me in the Hobbit Hole if she needs me. I told her to sign up and post something and told her how to get here. So, if she shows up and I'm in class just hand her a piece of bacon and a cup of tea and tell her I'll be in when I get a moment!
Oh, we have no idea what her screen name would be. If I was picking one for her it would be "Pooh Bear" - LOL - cause that is my pet baby name for her. But somehow, I don't think that's what she'd pick.

Well, your email will go to a pretty low-level worker who will find it neat. Hopefully they will smart and forward it up the line... It's a chance, There's a shot.
To: Overtaxed
Yep. They used to say they were going to have a baseball team. Now, she says this is the caboose.

Right. You never know! I'll keep you posted.

I've always been surprised that men do seem to enjoy Little Debbies alot. I have to keep them around here all the time. I've never been a cake or cookie person, (I prefer ice cream and candy bars:),so I don't get it. They taste so bland and plastic. Yuk.
