The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I couldn't imagine it as a movie because I didn't know how they would get all of HS Thompson's writing in it... but it sounds from the script like there was a lot of voice over that was right out of the book, and that could work! I will probably look for it on DVD to fit a really weird mood in the future!

Yep...those are the ones. When we lived in Broken Arrow, I used to have Steve drive all the way to Bixby to a Texaco that sold them, just so I could get my fix! They were 59 cents there too.

Mmmmm! I think Doc's Country Mart sells them...

it is very good to have a boss that cares about his workers!

All things considered - economy has been difficult here, a lot of people are still without work, many people are working less hours, etc. I can't really complain as much as I do. Yes, I am getting less money than I am supposed to. But, I do have a job. Now, I know that barring unforseen circumstances my bills will be paid this summer, I will just have to be frugal. I do have a guaranteed contract for the nine months of teaching next year. And I'm really not doing without anything.

So factor into all that a boss who will fight for you and I'm way better of than a lot of folks. I mean, I don't know about ya'll but a boss fighting for me is not something I've actually experienced a lot of in the past.

I would still like a job in San Antonio though. You see, I can celebrate Myranda being gone now, but really, I want to follow her to SA next fall.

I got critisized a lot for holding him all the time, but when he got down to 4lbs something, I ignored the critisism and did what I had to do.

I got critisized for a lot with Myranda when she was a child. I raised my 2 kids very differently. Myranda came along enough after Jill that I realized what I wanted to do different. So, with Myranda I went with a lot of gut instincts that I had over-ridden on advice of others with Jill. Frankly, I would quickly advise any new parent, mom or dad, to go with that gut instinct every time. I think God handles that. Excepting weirdo perverted people of course.

That was my feelings as well...I followed my God-given instincts over "others" advice and things turned around. I did things the same with Joshua, but he was a different kinda kid and likes his own space...I could put him down for a nap from day one.

Yes, Johnny Depp as Duke did a lot of voice-overs... it worked well I thought.

I had to chuckle at Jill when Abby was born because it seemed like she had those hot-to baby books memorized. She would tell me what she was doing and whether she was ahead or behind schedule and didn't even have to look it up. Totally knew all that stuff in the books. She would call me from Florida and ask, "mom when did i do....?" And of course I wouldn't remember. But, she wanted to factor it into her book information. With Emily, I haven't heard one book fact! ha!

And maybe "Yankee Doodle Dandy", too.

I caught the end of Midsummer Night's Dream (with Cagney and Mickey Rooney) the other night. Kinda cool, the Mrs. and I did MND in college.

We were sort of "between" dating...
