Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

G'nad; Well, between your ax and my bow, I think we got this part of Missouri covered. Cheers.

I think Her Majesty would be more entertained with JarJar and Roy. :) Well, I sure don't doubt that. I know at least 2 of our cats would consider JarJar and Roy supper.

She's gone to Germany now? Have you measured for the hot tub yet? oooooOOOOO Good idea. That will go nicely in the extra room I'd like to build behind the den. A room with a nice ramp leading up to double doors do I can ride my bike in during the winter and park it in front of the woodstove. I can put the hot tub near there.

Isn't it nice when God takes impossible days like today and makes them acceptable? Yeah. That's a nice way of putting it. We got a little stressed towards the end of the game. We were leading something like 19-2 and were scheduled to be last up at bat. At 4:55 we got their last guy out and we thought we were done, but they said we had to keep playing. Had they managed to get three up/three down (granted, not likely) we would've had to play another inning. At that point we (the Stormhands) would have had to leave and even though we were winning, would have forfeited the game.
But it worked out. And they've also recruited another player. A guy who hasn't played for a couple of seasons is going to step in for our guy with the appedectomy.
Of course their winning means that they'll be in playoffs while Jr. is on choir tour....But at least they'll have 10 players to work with.
To: Corin Stormhands
Sheesh... they don't have a 10-run rule?

WEll, was Junior's attitude at least acceptable throught this whole busy day?
I don't know how it works out but at the worst of times yesterday I was shocked to find my daugher being the staunch little trooper. She didn't even panic when we had the blowout on the way to graduation. Just took it all in stride.

Guys, I'm fixing to hit the hay. It's been quite a weekend. And we even had a really sudden severe storm a little bit ago - softball size hail. Lasted about 5 minutes. I'm bushed. Too much excitement in one weekend.
I should be getting a call in the best sleeping part of the morning saying the girl is in Germany. I expect she will have had a good sleep on the flight over, we didn't get too much last night.

Sheesh... they don't have a 10-run rule? They have a "Slaughter rule" which I think is 10 runs. Problem is, you also have to play four innings. We only got through three. Second inning our boys went through the lineup 2 1/2 times. Our first guy up was up at bat three times during that inning and made the first and last out.

WEll, was Junior's attitude at least acceptable throught this whole busy day? Actually, for the most part it was. We complimented him several times on the fact that we knew he was dealing with a lot of pressures this weekend. Only time he almost snapped was right after second service. He was hungry and hadn't eaten any breakfast. Normally that would be okay because they usually feed them between services and didn't today. (they always do the adult choir when we (they) sing). Can't figger out why except maybe that the husband of the woman who runs the kitchen has been ill. Still, it doesn't take that much to order 8,000 Krispy Kremes. Mrs. is going to call tomorrow and say "next time feel free to ask some parents to coordinate that."
So Jr. sorta snapped at me at the end of the second service at 12:30. And it wasn't really bad. But since he'd been there for five hours with nothing to eat, I couldn't blame him.

Wow... well, at least you only had to play 4 innings... in college I think it's 7 innings.
Good night!

Wow... well, at least you only had to play 4 innings... Well, at this age there can still be a huge difference in the skill levels of the teams. We're more driven by the time limit than by the innings. We have to play a full seven innings in playoffs. No time limit.
g'nite Bear.
