The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The Jebbies have gotten too used to their 'social status' in my opinion, and have 'soft-pedaled' Church teachings for years so as not to make their parishoners or students feel bad about what they want to do. That's IT EXACTLY!!! Couldn't have said it more succinctly myself. The Jesuit-in-chief of the school is known derisively as Fr. Gucci because somehow designer clothes and a Lexus fits in to the vow of poverty. He plays favorites, pats waaaaaay too many boys on the tush, and has fired half the religion department because his pet clique of teenage boys told him they "didn't see Christ" in their religion teachers. That and the teachers rejected Fr. Gucci's counsel to 'not worry about the doctrine so much, just let the boys know you're their friend'. Well, you're not going to meet better examples of Christians living every day trying to walk in His footsteps than our religion department. These men teach, and have consigned their families to frugal living, because they feel called. They give so much to the boys and the school that I honestly don't know how their wives can stand it, except that the wives have the same commitment. They are extrordinary Christians, truly ambassadors for the Catholic faith. The whole situation breaks my heart.... those blankety-blank Jesuits! Argh the tales I could tell. But I'll spare ya.

Whew, can I kill a thread or what?
LOL.

those blankety-blank Jesuits! Argh the tales I could tell. But I'll spare ya.Heh. I've heard a few from my B-i-l!! As for the vow of poverty; I don't think the Jesuits take that. Some Monastic orders do; Capuchin Friars, Trappists, etc. but not all of them.

We just got home from the picnic. I tried to call you.
I have 11 chicks so far. All seem very healthy. Some more eggs are pipping also. But I think there will still be some hatching going on tomorrow.
Let me know when you get home.

realized my truck tabs are expired and the place isn't open till tomorrow. Paranoid, I drove home hiding from the cops like a criminal. Well, ya'll know I've pretty much puttered around here looking for part-time work, protesting demoncrats, and getting ready for graduation for a month now. But, as I left for the first graduation yesterday I noticed my pickup inspection expired on May 1. Hello. I snuck all around town yesterday and all the way to DFW and back today. Tomorrow, it gets inspected. DOH!

Aw! I'm sure you miss her terribly already.
Our #1 son left earlier to go to his new apt. in Amherst. He's been home for the last two weeks, #2 son arrived a week ago Friday, and it has been fun having them ALL here for that time.

As for the vow of poverty; I don't think the Jesuits take that. Heh heh heh, you may be right. Terribly convenient, given their opulant tastes.
Although, there is one Jesuit Brother that I got acquainted with who is what all Jesuits should be. He's a classic teacher, he can expound on any subject, quote any author- and tell you the page number, has developed (through self-discipline, he says) a photographic memory, speak Latin and all its derivative languages fluently. He'd remind you of a garden gnome- an impish little bearded man with white hair and glasses and a bemused expression on his face. He 'retired' to teaching, unfortunately the boys were too dense to be in awe of this man. We shared a lunch period and every day was an education.

unfortunately, there were alot of "dealers" at this auction, buying up whole lots at a time at bids I wouldn't match...
scored three heavy log chains, a couple of jacks... 20 black rubber bungee cords I got for $1.50... pump up bug sprayer fer 4 bucks...

Aw! I'm sure you miss her terribly already. not yet.
actually, I had my first little teary session yesterday morning when she got up early with me and I gave her the teapot and herb teas that I had gotten her for graduation. We had some quality time and made a pot of tea in her new pot. I had written her a little card telling her that the trip to Germany was really her graduation gift but I wanted her to have something to keep and also something that would always remind her of home and mom when she needs comfort. Therefore it was a teapot. She cried some too.
Then, I had my second little cry this morning after she got up and got dressed. I walked into her room with a bag of mints that she loves and another candy that she loves and a bandana and told her, "It's a dangerous thing going out our front door Myranda baby, you never know where the road is going to take you. But, Bilbo left for his first adventure and forgot his pipe and hanky. You don't get a pipe, but here's a bandana hanky and something to sustain you on the airplane on the way to your big adventure."
'Cept, my voice got all croaky on the word dangerous and my eyes were leaking uncontrolably by the second sentence." Got a huge hug out of it though.
After all that I've been okay the rest of the day.
