Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

There's just the normal concerns parents should have (but often don't bother) about anything their kids see on the big or little screen.

Exactly. We got interested in HP because my son's class was reading it. We wanted to see what it was all about, and we fell in love with the books.

We monitor what Jr. rents or sees at the theater. We're not as strict about what he watches on TV. Probably should be. We did make sure HBO was out of the house.

Hee... it's so amusing, too, in an English sort of way... just random lines about the hall being "entirely devoid of mad axe-men". I think most of the characters are a little flat, and Goblet of Fire was, in my opinion, too long. Prisoner of Azkaban was the best. I think PoA approached real literature in some sections. There's a lot more to HP than most children's books... a lot about knowing oneself, and others, the way they truly are rather than just looking at the surface... about what's really important and what makes good moral choices.

And I really, really should go to bed because I'm singing tomorrow. WNeighbor, tell all about the graduatation anyway, please!

Well, did I miss anything today? I sure didn't here. Saw 2 graduations. Dealt with distasteful family situations. Had a blowout. Escorted daughter's former boyfriend right in front of daughter's new boytoy without either one of them having a clue. Saw most painful family people off only minutes after Myranda walked across the stage. WHEW. Had supper with favorite uncle while aunt played hypochondriac in motel. Myranda is off swimming for an hour or so with 2 of her friends (one the former boyfriend.) And I, have a moment to unwind in the Hobbit Hole.

What'd I miss? The best part of my day was the tire blowout.

Well, overall, I just flat hate pomp and circumstance.

That said, I sat through it twice today. Myranda and the former boyfriend, who is still a really good friend went to different high schools here in town. I would not miss his either, so I did both.

The family members were ALL VERY LATE. First my dad's little sister and husband were supposed to be here at 12:30. They got here at 2. My mom and dad were the ones that called at the last minute and said they were coming. Myranda had already said she didn't even want them here. They came anyway. They got her 10 minutes before time to leave. Of course I've already said enough about how I don't get on well with the parents. They really have started to get on Myranda's last nerve too. AND to top that all off, my dad and his little sister DO NOT get along. My mom has stabbed my aunt in the back several times. This is the hypochondriac aunt so she gets sick over anything at all. She got sick after she got to my house. (That was when she heard my mom and dad were on the way.) She has not left their motel room. Did not make the graduation and did not go to supper with us even though my mom and dad had left over an hour before we even got ready to go.

That all said, the flat was great. ATTENTION RACE FANS: We were leaving my house and going to the graduation. Plenty of time but we were stopping at the aunt and uncle's hotel so they could follow us to the coloseum. Down a hill rounding a corner going right my right rear tire blows. Rolled a little sharper right into a pawn shop parking lot. My parents were following too. Sent Myranda and her girlfriend from Waco into my dad's pickup who was following. Myranda's former boyfriend and I changed that flat and were back on the road in less than 8 - YES EIGHT minutes! WHOA! Summer part time job - Nascar pit crew. Remember, this was with no air tools and both us having to share the same tools. I was in a dress and heels and Mac was in dress clothing. It was awesome. Had Myranda stayed with us she still would have been early.

Ha! I thought the blowout was describing the distastefuly family situations!

I've been in and out today. Appears the most important thing to happen was that Scott has left for his trip to Bountiful...so to speak.

LOL Yes, I see what you mean about "blowout!" Well, our family doesn't have blowouts. They back stab. Or kill with dripping sarcasm. But, we're much much much too well mannered to ever have an out and out blowout. Well, that's all except for those of us that live in MY house.

I must be sick. I'm probably the only person in this town today with a graduating senior who thinks the funnest part of the day was changing a flat tire.

Oh, interesting tidbit we learned when we got Myranda to the graduation. Yesterday at 6 when she left practice there were 477 graduating seniors. For the ceremony today there were 393. Seems there was a little party that got busted last night and all those seniors were drinking and are in jail. Now, that's a real bummer.

Well, I've prayed for Scott and Mrs. Leftcoast to find Bountiful and for Scott to be succint. So, I'm waiting for a good report!

Sorry if I missed anyone who might be interested. I forget who does and doesn't do Disney. Except for OT, I know she's a big fan.

Took Luke to see Finding Nemo tonite. It's actually a very good movie. There's enough humor there to keep the adults entertained.

This was Luke's first movie. He did well. Something in one of the previews scared him, so he sat on my lap for the first half of the movie. But then he got back in his seat and finished his kid's combo snack (popcorn, M&Ms and drink $179.95). Fortunately for me, after the movie he fell asleep on the way to pick up Jr. from choir rehearsal.

I was a little concerned because this child talks incessantly. He's always in the nursery at church and if we're visiting churches and there's no nursery, one of us will keep him out. But he did okay. He had to comment about everything, but I think he caught on to what was happening.

On the way there we stopped for dinner at Chick-Fil-A. I told him he could play for a little bit if we had time, but we had to hurry to the movie. I'd already been priming him for keeping quiet. He said "I don't want to go to the movie. I want to talk."

Of course, when the movie was over he asked to see it again.
