Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The Hulk movie, directed by Ang Lee, opens in three weeks. Saw the trailer. I'm fascinated by the range of movies Ang Lee choses to direct.

Isn't it the magic in HP that upsets people? Well, sort of. It's the term "witch" and the casting of spells. LOTR is "another time, another place." HP is set in modern day England and they (gasp) live amongst us.
People who are concerned about the "evils" of Harry Potter have too much time (and not enough head knowledge) on their hands.

None of the spells in HP can turn anyone into a newt, Jen has tried! Well, it worked on me once...
....but I got better.

I think it's because they haven't recovered from being turned into a newt.

Yes, it was a good movie. I was even awake for most of it! (I got fuzzy in some of the battle scenes)

I gotta go. The sun is actually out and I'm going to go work in the
mudpits er yard...
Heh. Jr. had some pre-Entmoot training last night. He was the first asleep at his friend's house. At least they didn't use a permanent marker!
Of course his friend's parents and I were asking this morning, "What do you mean you didn't take pictures?" Silly boys.

I am [gasp] mowing the lawn. The horses have not been doing a good job.

I am [gasp] mowing the lawn.Very nice, do you have a laptop mounted on your lawn mower, perhaps with a wireless network connection? Or were you taking a break in the actual mowing to post? ;)
I paid two enterprising neighbor boys to mow my lawn this morning... doing my part to help prop up the local economy!

Read an article about a pre-screening of the movie for the studio executives... apparently they were quite upset that it was not all action. Ang Lee instead decided to include a lot of character development, exploring just why Bruce Banner turns large, mean, and green when angered. To me, that makes the movie sound more interesting, not less!
Studio executives truly are clueless.

what do we call - oh darn, Becky hasn't read it yet - Aragorn's healing abilities, if not magic? Ummmm....a grace bestowed by God on the rightful king? I need to brush up on my Divine right of kings stuff.
It's drizzly here at The House. Frodo and I are hanging with the cats today.

Funny you should mention it...mine gave out after just a year of functioning. It still plays CD's just not DVD's. At first I thought maybe my FOTR disks were dirty or something but it froze on the least played discs too. I have to switch it on and off to unfreeze it.
